ARRIVAL AT PONFERRADA Once you arrive at Ponferrada, you will be able to enjoy the charming places this town offers, such as Los Templarios Castle, the Basilica of Nuestra Señora de la Encina, the Main Square or the Clock Tower. You will start walking from Ponferrada, passing by the towns of Villafranca del Bierzo and Trabadelo. Villafranca is the historic capital of El Bierzo, and it preserves its majestic appearance. In this town you can visit the Church of San Francisco, which has a beautiful Mudejar coffered ceiling, the Main Square and the Church of. From Vega de Valcarce you will depart towards Triacastela, going through O Cebreiro. In this last village you will find the church of Santa María La Real del Cebreiro (preromanesque style), and also the Ethnographic Museum of O Cebreiro. Departing from Triacastela, the new stage will take you to Portomarín. On the way, you will be able to see the town of Sarria, which is the starting point chosen by many pilgrims to begin the Way, and it has remarkable buildings such as the Church of Santa Mariña, the Church of El Salvador and the Convent of Magdalena. ARRIVAL AT TUI After arriving at Tui, you will be able to enjoy the many charms of this town in the border with Portugal. Some of the most remarkable places are the International Bridge over the River Miño, the remains of the wal (12th Century), the Porta da Pía, the Cathedral of Santa María and the Diocesan Museum, the Chapel of San Telmo and the Convent of the nuns of the Order of St. Clare. In the outskirts, you can visit the Gothic church of Santo Domingo. Accommodation in Tui. Day 2. STAGE 1: TUI O PORRIÑO (18,7 km) Breakfast in Tui. You will begin the route towards O Porriño. Once you have arrived at this town, you can see the Town Hall, the Botica Nueva, the Fountain of the Christ and the Templete de San Luis. We also recommend you to taste the bread of O Porriño, famous for its flavour and texture. Accommodation in O Porriño. Day 3. STAGE 2: O PORRIÑO REDONDELA (15,2 km) Breakfast in O Porriño. Arriving at Redondela, located on the end of the Estuary of Vigo, you will find a Roman Milestone. This is just a way of welcoming the pilgrim to the village, as you will also have the opportunity to visit many other places such as the pilgrims hostel, the house of Santa Teresa, the Convent of Vilavella or the church of. In addition, you will be able to go for a lovely walk around the park of Alameda. Accommodation in Redondela. Day 4. STAGE 3: REDONDELA PONTEVEDRA (15,5 km) Breakfast in Redondela. On this day you will arrive at the first city on the Portuguese Way in Spain. Walking around the historic district of Pontevedra, you can visit the Sanctuary of the Pilgrim Virgin. Going though the porta do Camiño, you will enter the Ferrería Square, a place full of bars and terraces, where you can also find the Convent of San Francisco. Close to this, you can see the Square of the Star, the House of the Faces, the Gardens of Castro Sampedro and the Provincial Museum. Accommodation in Pontevedra. Day 5. STAGE 4: PONTEVEDRA CALDAS DE REIS (21,5 km) Breakfast in Pontevedra. Apart from being the birthplace of the King Alfonso VII of León, Caldas represents a place of relaxation, as its therapeutic thermal baths are really famous. STAGE 5: CALDAS DE REIS PADRÓN (19,5 km) Breakfast in Caldas de Reis. Padrón is well known for being the town where the lifeless body of St. James disembarked, in 44 AD. Amongst the places to visit, you have the church of, the Bridge of, the Fountain of Carmen, the Convent of Carmen and the House A Matanza (Museum House of Rosalía de Castro).
