YOUR PSC ADVENTURE BEG INS... Meal key: B, L, D (breakfast, lunch, dinner) DAY 1: Monday, June 24 - Depart North America for Chile DAY 2: Tuesday, June 25 - Arrive in Santiago Upon arrival in Santiago this morning, you ll be greeted at the airport by your local Earthbound Expeditions guide and escorted to your beautiful, centrally-located hotel. Spend some time freshening up before meeting your guide and host for a fascinating exploration of the heart of Santiago. Visit Santa Lucia hill, where Pedro de Valdivia founded the city in 1542 and walk to the oldest church in Santiago. See the charming neighborhood known as Paris-Londres and visit the main square, Plaza de Armas. A welcome lunch is included this afternoon. Sleep in Santiago (L) DAY 3: Wednesday, June 26 - Santiago: Museums, Markets and the Observatory This morning we set out to discover one of South America s most amazing museums, the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art. Housed in the elegant building of the former Royal Customs House, this is one of Chile s best museums and offers visitors a rare glimpse into Chile s pre-columbian past. We ll have lunch in the colorful and chaotic Mercado Central, a fun way to see Chile s agricultural exports displayed. Shoppers always enjoy watching the lively fishmongers gutting and filleting fish and the market displays every kind of fish and shellfish available along the Chilean coast. After lunch, enjoy some leisure time to explore the sites that most interest you. Tonight! The Chilean sky is famous for is crystal clear vision of our universe. Let yourself be taken out of this world by getting a glance of the immense skies above us, not even lifting a toe off the ground. This private observatory located in the Andes at a 40 minute drive from Santiago, offers an impressive introduction into the world above and around us. We will be warmly received by our hosts for our tour.

First, an experienced astronomer will give a presentation with interesting and astounding facts about the universe, the planets, and the stars. Then, leaving the theoretic part behind, we get a chance to observe the night sky with our bare eyes. Moving onwards in technology we use binoculars and bigger telescopes until we finally get to use the high-tech telescopes of the observatory. To bring you back down to earth, you will be served wine, cheese and other refreshments at the end of the tour. Then you will also have the opportunity to join into discussion with the other members of the group, in order to share experiences and impressions. Return to Santiago. Sleep in Santiago (B, L) DAY 4: Thursday, June 27 - The Natural History Museum of Santiago & drive to Santa Cruz! This morning we set out to discover one of South America s most renowned museums, the National Historical Museum. This is one of Chile s best museums and offers visitors a great introduction to Chilean history. After, we ll drive south two hours to the beautiful town of Santa Cruz. Located in the heart of Chile s premier wine valley, Santa Cruz is the perfect location to start our wine adventure of Chile. Sleep in Santa Cruz (B, L, D) Day 5: Friday, June 28 - Great Wine Estates of the Colchagua Valley Art, craft and lovers of history will enjoy a visit to the Colchagua Museum. This outstanding museum houses various object of interest including: Dominican amber, pre-columbian ceramics and textiles, the largest collection of Mapuche (indigenous Chilean) silver jewelry, artifacts from the Catholic church, articles from Chile's early governors and artists, a collection of completely restored carriages, an exhibit celebrating the world of the huaso (Chilean cowboy) and last but not least, a beautifully restored early automobile collection. After our visit we depart for the Viña Viu Manent. While at the estate you ll enjoy an indepth private tour, tasting and lunch. Return to Santa Cruz in the late afternoon. Sleep in Santa Cruz (B, L)

Day 6: Saturday, June 29 - Great Wine Estates and an Evening with the Stars: Today we discover the wines and history of the Colchagua Valley. We visit Viña Montes, a winery founded by four partners and located in an area known as the Apalta. This region is one of the most recognized and respected wine zones in the Colchagua Valley. The Colchagua Valley was one of the main agricultural areas of the country because of big family haciendas, which were the productive centers of the central region of Chile. Today, remains of these old "patronal" houses can be seen along the roads. Enjoy a winery visit and tasting before lunch, which will be served in a lovely setting overlooking the Colchagua Valley. We return to historic Santa Cruz in the late afternoon. Relax and enjoy Santa Cruz before departing for a very special evening out. Tonight you ll ride a cable car to the top of a nearby summit. Once there you ll enjoy the outstanding Cerro Chamán Observatory which is one of the best places on the planet to stargaze and view the southern sky. Sleep in Santa Cruz (B, L, D) DAY 7: Sunday, June 30 - Cross the Andes to Mendoza, Argentina Weather-permitting, we will see the tallest mountain in the Americas this morning as we cross the Andes from Santiago to Mendoza. The Puente del Inka or Aconcagua soars towards the heavens to 23,000 feet. Mendoza is perfectly situated in the heart of Argentina s premier wine country. Full of charming boutiques, cafés and superb restaurants, Mendoza is Chile s version of Napa Valley. Tonight you ll sample Argentina s world-famous grass-fed beef with a fine, locally-produced Malbec wine (vegetarian and poultry dishes also available). Sleep in Mendoza (B, D) DAY 8: Monday, July 1 - Argentine Culinary Secrets and Malbec Country After breakfast we begin our day with a bit of history of Mendoza. We ll visit Pedro de Castillo Square, the very place where the city was founded, learning more about the history of Mendoza and South America. In the afternoon, we continue on to visit a lovely estate, where our hosts have prepared a very special cooking class followed by a delicious wine pairing lunch. We ll make our way back to Mendoza for a siesta. Dinner is on your own this evening in Mendoza. Sleep in Mendoza (B, L)

DAY 9: Tuesday, July 2 - Total Solar Eclipse in San Juan, Argentina Today we drive two hours north of Mendoza to the small town of Rodeo near San Juan. This is location is ideal for solar eclipse viewing with 2 minutes, 17 seconds of totality and favorable weather conditions. The property of the family Gregorio Sanchez has been reserved just for us. Enjoy a barbeque and relax as we wait for this exciting event - the total solar eclipse of the sun! Sleep in Mendoza (B, L, D) DAY 10: Wednesday, July 3 - Enjoy a day in San Juan This small provincial capital is the second-city of wine production in Argentina, but don t expect it to be like Mendoza. San Juan is a low-key town and rather modern for a colonial town because most of the original city was destroyed in a 1944 earthquake. Compared to Mendoza, it s much less touristy and the pace of life here is a little slower. San Juan is a place to take it easy, explore local landscapes, and sip on a variety of great wines. It s no secret that Argentines eat a lot of beef and the country is known for having some of the best steak in the world. So while we are here, we ll do as the locals do and eat at a traditional parrilla (steakhouse) to enjoy succulent grilled meats alongside what s sure to be a great wine list. Sleep in Mendoza (B, D) DAY 11: Thursday, July 4 - Flight to Buenos Aires and Afternoon City Tour This morning we transfer to the Mendoza airport for our morning flight to Buenos Aires. Enroute from the airport in Buenos Aires to our hotel we ll stop to discover the history of the city. We ll see the 16 th century Plaza de Mayo with the Casa Rosada (government house), the Metropolitan Cathedral and the old Cabildo (chapter house) which was once the Spanish headquarters for this region of South America. Rest up and relax before heading out for an evening of jazz. Sleep in Buenos Aires (B, D) DAY 12: Friday, July 5 - Museum of Natural History The permanent collection at the Museum of Natural History covers geology, the Antarctic,

birds, reptiles, and marine life. And, the dinosaur section and fossil collection is out of this world! In the afternoon you ll visit a local neighborhood which is packed with cafes and art studios. Sleep in Buenos Aires. (B, L) DAY 13: Saturday, July 6 - An Excursion to Colonia, Uruguay! This morning we make our way to the port where we ll catch a ferry from Buenos Aires to Colonia, Uruguay. We ll cross the world s biggest river the Rio de la Plata and in just over an hour arrive in what is commonly called the Switzerland of South America." Enjoy a guided walk through the cobblestone streets of this colonial Portuguese town, followed by a wine tasting and lunch. After lunch, you ll have free time to explore this little gem on your own. Return to Buenos Aires. Sleep in Buenos Aires (B, L) DAY 14: Sunday, July 7 - Museum of Latin American Art Evening flight home We spend the morning exploring and enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of the famed San Telmo market in the heart of Buenos Aires. In the afternoon, we visit the Museum of Latin American Art (MALBA). The museum's goal is to collect, preserve, research and promote Latin American art from the onset of the 20th century to the present. This also involves educating the public to foster their knowledge in Latin American artists. The building project was executed by AFT Architects, a renowned Argentine architectural firm. Enjoy a farewell lunch and a free afternoon. This evening catch your flight home. Flights generally depart at 10pm for the USA. *You will arrive home on the morning of July 8. Note: Those joining the post-tour extension will fly out in the afternoon for Iguazú Falls.
