DX Activities Swan Island See the Paper on ARRL web sight. Paper country just won t cut it. The IARU has agreed basically to the same thing paper countries are not acceptable. N5ZM asked about any new DXpeditions. Rick didn t indicate any thing new. LOTW: New awards coming soon! WAS in about 6 months. Overall the program is going good. Hope to incorporate CQ contests/ awards and IOTA. ARRL is trying to recover $250K spent on LOTW program development that was never delivered but had to be done in house instead. BPL Is likely to go by the wayside. ARRL is helping with a BPL complaint in Texas. It appears that the FCC has done a lot of things procedurally wrong related to BPL. This will be appealed in Federal District Court. Licensing restructure Something is expected around Dayton. 60 Meters Not catching on as expected. K5UR motioned that we officially recognize how Dennis Schaefer stepped up and helped the Arkan-

Page 2 sas Section. A unanimous second from the club members present. Thanks Dennis! Earl asked that the minutes from the previous meeting be read. Page 4 Words of Wisdom from the President Earl Smith, N5ZM Also Head honcho in charge of the Samples Kontest Klub Well here it is time for the 2 nd Quarter ADXA Meeting. It does creep up on you fast. I hope everyone has been able to work the ones they needed. Sharon and I would like to thank everyone that came to the 1 st Quarter meeting here at our house. We enjoyed the company of everyone. Please invite someone that has an interest in DXing or contesting to one of our meetings. We would enjoy meeting them The DX-Extravaganza at Ham Com was another great success. There were great presentations by excellent speakers with pertinent up to date information. Charlie K4VUD spoke on the VU4 expedition and the emergency that followed. Bob K4UEE had up to date info on the 3Y0X expedition. Wayne N7NG brought us up to date on LoTW and other DXCC matters. Plus many others. But the best thing that happened was when Tom VP6TC and Betty VP6YL Christian came to the Hospitality room unexpectedly and sat at the table with Frank W5BPT and myself. The ADXA Quarterly 17, 30 and 40 meters. But as luck would have it the cards arrived on Monday after I returned from Dallas where I had my cards checked. I did have 2 new ones added to my CW and RTTY totals each and several band countries for a new Challenge total of 2042. I have been on 6 Meters about 2 weeks and have enjoyed many good openings. I have worked 10 countries and have 3 confirmed already. I hope all have had the chance to work Rick AI5P this past month or so on his South Pacific travels. I am looking forward to seeing everyone again for the 2 nd Quarter meeting at Russellville on the 18 th. Hope all of you can make it and partake of the gourmet meal. The usual fare of course. Earl N5ZM.. 6M Addition to the N5ZM QTH As far as what has been going on here at N5ZM I was able to get FT5XO for a new one on RTTY and

The ADXA Quarterly Page 5 NEXT MEETING The next meeting of ADXA is June 18, 2005 and will be held at Washburn Park in Russellville, Arkansas. As is typical, we will gather around noon to enjoy snacks. The business meeting will begin at 1:00 PM. (NOTE: Lakefront Drive is the same as Dike Rd on the map) Directions to June Meeting: If coming on Interstate 40: Take Exit 81 and go South on Highway 7. About one block south of the exit, there is a stop light. This is Lakefront Dr. It may not have a street sign, but there is a Texaco and Phillips 66 station on the right at the intersection. Turn right and go 1.7 miles. Washburn Park is on the left. Go straight and the pavilion is on the left. A note from Dennis on the planned side trip to show off the BAT (Big Arkansas Tower): One thing you might want to mention - we would be glad to show off the Big Arkansas Tower (BAT) after the meeting, but the deer hunters that share the road with us made some "speed bumps" to help drainage. The road used to wash out badly, and they fixed it and put the ridges across the road. It helps the erosion a lot, but a low vehicle (like most cars) tends to drag. Trucks and most SUV's do fine. We might need to carpool up there with those who have suitable vehicles. If coming on Highway 7 from the South: Go all the way through Russellville on Hwy 7 until you are almost to I-40. Look for Lakefront Dr and turn left. Go 1.7 miles and Washburn Park is on the left. Frank, Earl, Tom and Betty at Ham-Com hospitality room (2005)
