GRAND VALLEY CAP N BALLERS SMOKE POLE JANUARY 2019 JEFFS JOURNAL Hello everyone; I hope all of you had a very Happy Holiday season this year. Our family certainly did. It is so much fun getting together with our friends and family. We find this is especially true to be with our grandchildren and great grand kids. We are fortunate to have all of them living close to us so weather and travel do not usually upset our plans. This year was even better no snow at all to deal with that made it possible for almost everyone to attend our gatherings. We found the few who were not in attendance were dealing with some illness. I was still dealing with my lengthy repertory issue but somehow managed to get through the season. This past weekend was the first time I felt well since Thanksgiving and just in time too so I could be at the Club to shoot and do the meetings on Sunday. Was it ever a nice day to be recovered and spend some time outdoors, it is not often we have 40 degrees no wind and no snow in early January but that s what happened and with those conditions we had 20+ shooters for the line matches and even a half dozen went to shoot the woods- walk. Most of us can remember when all of us did both, not so much anymore I think it might be that thought, I m not as young as I used to be thing or the mind is willing but the body won t cooperate, either way I ll just to my best when I can. It sure would help to see a repeat of those weather conditions for Februarys shoot on the 3 rd. We can only hope. The Club meeting mostly involved committee reports and discussion on the Club calendar and the events we have scheduled. Those members present were given hard copies so excellently prepared by our publicist Pat Bradfield as well as our many of our flyers. Pat we thank for that effort, well done. I will remind you all our literature is available on the website at gvcnb.org. In addition, you can print your own copy. As you will see, we have a very season ahead of us and that will require everyone to do their part to make them successful, as our Treasurer Mr. Fernwalt is fond of saying, as a team we will succeed, and so it must be.
Please do not forget to have your dues into Ron by January 31 we cannot accept them if they are not postmarked by that date, we do not want to lose anyone and I do not think you want the hassle of a renewal procedure. After the next meeting the locks will be changed to the new code for 2019 to avoid being locked out, renew early. The 2019 season seems to begin with the Kalamazoo History Show, which will be on March 16 and 17 th. Grand Valley will again have tables at the event to advertise the Club and provide event flyers. We also have some trade goods to we would like to sell. At the meeting, I encouraged members to help with that effort by donating something to the cause. Maybe you are not as active in the club as you once were. A donation on your part of something muzzle loading related and pre- 1890 would be greatly appreciated please check and see if this is a possibility for you. I thank you in advance for your contribution. That is about all I can think of so see you next month.
