You can buy a typical Canadian sandwich for $6-8, and an evening meal for $17 - $30. You will also need spending money for entertainment. In total, you should plan to have access to at least CAD $200 per week. What s the weather like in Vancouver? Spring in Vancouver Spring comes early: The temperatures on average is above O C (32 F). Autumn in Vancouver The weather is generally pleasant during the autumn months (September to November). Winter in Vancouver We see little snow in the city during the winter, but it does get wet, with large amounts of precipitation in the form of rain and slush. It is important to bring an umbrella, coat and warm clothes. But, keep in mind that it can also be sunny in winter! Public Transportation in Vancouver Greater Vancouver is divided into zones. Transportation Prices vary on each zone. Zone 1: Yellow - $2.95 Zone 2: Red $ 4.20 / Zone 3: Green - $ 5.70 There are 3 methods of public transport: Bus, Skytrain and Sea Bus. To plan a trip use following link: www.translink.ca and click on Trip planner A regular one zone ticket will cost you $2.95. If you wish to travel to more than one zone, you will need to upgrade your fare ticket for an extra fee (except for busses you only pay $2.95 for all zones). In all busses you will need the exact coin fee (Zone 1: $2.75, Zone 2: $4.20, Zone 3: $5.70) to travel. Tickets are also available at Skytrain and Sea Bus stations. All the time your travel with public transportation you need to keep proof that you have purchased your ticket. Check the end time indicated on your ticket. Weekdays after 6:30pm, weekends and public holidays tickets cost only $2.95 for all 3 zones! When using the Vancouver public transit system, there are a few options available to save a little bit of money: Monthly Pass: At the beginning of each month, we recommend that you buy a monthly pass using a Compass Card. This pass allows you unlimited travel on any of the transit services for one month. These passes cost $95-$174 depending on your zone. Note that a 1 zone pass will only allow you to travel within Zone 1. If you move to another zone you will be charged extra. Ask the bus driver if you are unsure about how many zones you are travelling. Bus drivers here are very knowledgeable and helpful. They can answer most of the questions that you might have about public transportation.
