On February 3rd after breakfast, we had 20 people go to the Broken Arrow History Museum. It was a very interesting review of life in the early days in Broken Arrow from statehood to present. Maybe I am showing my age but some of the items brought memories. We had 20 people attend and 8 Model A s. Thanks to our tour guide who was very helpful in explaining the exhibits. Next, ten of us went down the street to the Broken Arrow History Museum. It was an extremely interesting showing of military items from Civil War to present. To most of us, we find military items and history very interesting. I noticed they did not have a Vietnam era blood chit, so I gave them one. Thanks to the tour guides for explaining all the exhibits. On February 17th, we had a Valentine Day Dinner at Ted s Café Escondido restaurant. We had 32 present, everyone had a good time with lots of door prizes. Due to inclement weather, we canceled the February 20th meeting. I feel it is better to error on the side of caution, than take chance of someone having an accident or falling and hurting themselves. I did not get a chance to ask for volunteers to cook potatoes for the March potato dinner. If you can help cook potatoes, please contact me at donsthunderbird@gmail. com or Jessie at 918-451-2124 or 918-361-6165. We will have the Hubley races at the April 17th meeting. I am planning a trip to see the River City Players show in Tahlequah at 2:00 p.m. on June 23rd with lunch at Sam & Ella s restaurant. I have booked 24 tickets, so I need your RSVP as soon as possible. We would depart East Broken Arrow about 10:30 a.m. Contact me at donsthunderbird@gmail.com or 918-361-6161. The Board is looking for places for breakfast and things to do after breakfast for the rest of the year (see calendar of events). If there is something you would like to do and you think it would be of interest to the Club, contact me. May the Ford be with You, Don Reed

Nuts & Bolts (Or Miscellaneous Tidbits) by Ken Brust Henry Ford once said: Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the Government take care of him, better take a closer look at the American Indian. I don t want to get too political, but thought this was an interesting quote from Henry. A rare Saturday in January popped up with temps in the 70 s, so we followed the DuVall family on a spontaneous 175-mile drive over some Oklahoma backroads visiting some interesting places, including a most entertaining time at a winery and pecan orchard plus the only good place to eat in the entire Checotah area! I even learned our a/c didn t cool so will need to get it checked before even warmer drives are planned. The Tulsa Historical Society Museum has welcomed the return of its Tulsa oilfield runabout which had been on loan to the airport for several years. This is a rare and interesting vehicle that was manufactured in Tulsa by the Tulsa Motor Car Company in the mid-teens. The company made car models plus a special truck to carry oil bits. The logo was interesting as well. Stop in and visit the museum and check out the Tulsa Truck. Another mild day allowed many to drive their Model A s following the February breakfast to tour two different historical museums in Broken Arrow. Thanks to Don Reed for organizing this outing. The DuVall family is now busy taking orders for shirts and caps with our club s 50th logo on them. Get yours soon and wear with pride!! Linda Ochs and Jerry Conrad have a special attachment to our club since it served as a vehicle for their individual lives to connect. To help celebrate the club s 50th anniversary and to highlight their good fortune for being members, they have chosen to sponsor an ad in this Rumble Sheet for the remaining months of 2018 to show their appreciation and best wishes. Many thanks to them both. Anyone else wishing to sponsor 50th Anniversary wishes, should contact me for details. Also, we are compiling a booklet of club memories, so please send me your own recollections of fun and interesting times associated with our club. I have solicited memories from more of our old-time members but certainly do not want to exclude anyone. Guys and gals, please submit your thoughts and let s all be included in our memories booklet. And, for you scientific types, here is one for you: If our cars could travel at the speed of light, would our headlights still work?? Happy Trails to You! The Rumble Sheet - 2 - MARCH 2018

legend OF THE SHAMROCK AND ST. PATRICK - Legend credits Saint Patrick with teaching the Irish about the doctrine of the Holy Trinity by showing people the shamrock, a three-leafed plant, using it to illustrate the Christian teaching of three persons in one God. This story first appears in writing in 1726, though it may be older. The shamrock has since become a central symbol for Saint Patrick s Day. The Rumble Sheet - 3 - MARCH 2018
