Trip to Rome Our project was to organise a 3-day long trip from Hungary to Italy. We chose the capital city in Italy, because there are so many sightseeings there, and of course all of us know: All roads lead to Rome. We had to decide on a date so we chose 12-14th March because on these days the tickets are cheaper than usually.

March 12th The day of the arrival Colosseo is 1 km from accommodation Price: full: 12.00 Euro reduced: 7.50 Euro Dinner: Hostaria da Nerone From Termini Station Two stops until Colosseo Price: 2.70 Euro/Person/Way
First day The plane leaves at 11.35 from the International Airport of Budapest. This means that everyone has to attend two hours before the set off. The plane arrives to the International Airport of Italy at 13.25. The flying time is nearly two hours. Travelling by bus might be cheaper and that would be houseto-house, but this way is faster, don t need to stop for petrol or fresh air for the bus drive. It s more convenient and safer. The accommodation is about 26 km far from the airport. To get there, we chose The Leonardo Express. This train goes in every 15 minutes daily. It goes until Termini station, and this is located 1 km far from our house. The ticket costs 14 Euro/person/return ticket. (Return ticket means the ticket is not only for one way, but we can also get back to the airport with the same ticket.) Guesthouse Stradivari is the name of our accommodation. It costs 27 Euro/2 nights/person. We enclosed a map and some recommendations and positive feedbacks. Check-in is possible from 14.00. This house is in the centre of Rome, the railway and the subway stations are close, there are lot of restaurants nearby. The rooms are non-smoking, have enough place for 2,3 or even 6 people. There is free Wi-fi, TV, bathroom and beautiful view in every room. Also daily cleaning is contained. As it was mentioned, there are a lot of advantages of arriving by plane, but we first meet here with a few drawbacks: the plane has a fix date. This means we can t choose when we want to set off and land, so we have to calculate in that thing, on the first day there are not too many possibilities. But we tried to do our best, since the Colosseum is so close to the accommodation. Visiting Rome or even the Colosseum when it s getting dark is one of the most beautiful and romantic programme. The enterance fee is 12 Euro for adults and 7.50 Euro for people between the age of 18 and 25, under 18 it is free. There are group discounts too. At the end of the day, dinner is needed. The name of the restaurant is Hostaria da Nerone. It is close to the Colosseum. It is cosy and nice. The satisfied people s feedbacks can be read on their webpage. We can also check the menu online. Everything is listed with prices. For example a spaghetti with cola costs 12 Euro/person. All of their food is traditional so we can learn a few things about the Italian cuisine. Some free time is possible here and then walking back to the accommodation.

March 13th Second day Panificio Roscioli Pietro Address: Via Buonarroti, 46/48. Tel: +39 06 446 7146
Second day We ought to start our day with a delicous breakfast. Panificio Roscioli Pietro, a restaurant, is located in the same street as our guesthouse. There is a self-service so it suits everyone s interests. We chose the Hop on Hopp off possibility for the day, because there are so many good points in it. The ticket, which costs 24 Euro/Person, grants unlimited use. It means you can hop-on and hop-off as many times as you want to at any designated stops. You can also enjoy free Wi-fi on the board, and also you can share immediately your Roman experience with your friends and your family. The first stop is Sante Marie Maggiore. This often plays host to the Pope. The building has ancient mosaics and frescoes. The medieval bell is here, which is 75 meters high. The second stop is the Colosseum. Since we already visited it on the previous day we do not necessarily need to hop off here, only if we want to see the spectecular building in daylight. The third sightseeing is Circo Massimo. Once this was the largest stadium of the ancient Rome, used for gladiator fights or chariot races. Piazza Venezia is the fourth stop. It is situated in the real heart of Rome. There are other attractions withon walking distance: Pantheon, Forum Romanum, Piazza del Campidoglio. The next stop is Vaticano. Here you can see the wealth of fabolous artworks in the Vatican Museum. Also this is the stop for St Peter s Square and for the Basilica. The sixth stop is Fountana di Trevi, which is one of the world s most famous fountains. It depicts the Sea God. The last stop is Piazza Barberini. It has famous spiral staircase, magnificent frescoes and the most important art collections of Italy. Here the Spanish Walkway can be visited too. Of course there is dinner at the end of the day, in a cosy restaurant named Trattoria Vecchia.

Third day Panificio Roscioli Pietro is the perfect place for the last day s breakfast. Kind waiters, special food and close to the accommodation. On our last day we have to wake up early if we want to have programmes too and of course we want! There is a bike renting possibility nearby where we can rent usual type of bicycles, and also tandem bicycles which is probably more fun. A local park, Parco del Colle Oppis, is within biking distance so we can spend some free time there. Soon we have to say goodbye to the beautiful Italy. The plane leaves at 14.05. The routine is the same as for the arrival. Arriving to Hungary is at 15.55. As for the other expenses we have to mention self-insurance for any unexpected happenings, and we also have to pay tourist tax which is needed whenever we travel abroad. In this case, counting everything the total price of this trip would be 255 Euro/person.
