NEW RETAIL OPPORTUNITIES STAGE 1 LEASING NOW Join Coles, Kmart and ALDI plus 50+ Specialty Stores and Dining Precinct
THE PORT S NEWEST RETAIL DEVELOPMENT The redevelopment of the Port Canal Shopping Centre has commenced with stage 1 due for completion in mid-2019. The $45 million construction project makes it the most significant retail development of its kind in the local area in 40 years. The Centre will be rebuilt and extended to include 50+ specialty retailers, cafés, commercial premises, a childcare centre and restaurants all under one roof. In a first for the region, ALDI will open alongside existing retailers Coles, Kmart, Liquorland and Kmart Tyre & Auto. The design of the Centre will be sophisticated and reflect the strong history of the local area whilst providing a contemporary shopping environment. It will include the use of natural and industrial building products that reflect the heritage and future growth of Port Adelaide. To complement the new look, the Centre will be rebranded as Port Adelaide Plaza and will be a destination and landmark precinct for people living in the north-western suburbs of Adelaide. The redevelopment of the Centre will have a significant impact on the local economy, creating new jobs and add significant economic prosperity to the iconic suburb of Port Adelaide.
THE REDEVELOPMENT The Centre will expand from 19,000 square metres to over 29,394 square metres with an end value of $130 million. The existing major retail spaces are retained in the development, informing the final plan layout as anchors to the new retail mall. The new ALDI tenancy to the east of Kmart adds an additional anchor and facilitates the extension of the mall to the east. Connections to pedestrian and parking areas are diverse and provide a variety of experience paths for shoppers as they move through the centre and beyond. DESIGN STATEMENT The architecture of the Port Adelaide Plaza represents a contemporary interpretation of Port Adelaide, juxtaposed with the amenity and experience required of the modern sub regional shopping centre. Timelessness is crucial to the design, with precise detailing of natural robust materials that invoke a sense of place, identity and pride. This retail experience is specific to this site, and can only occur at Port Adelaide Plaza. The design of Port Adelaide Plaza utilizes bold forms, lines and materials to provide unique shopping experiences throughout the site, an inconsistent consistency of sorts. With over 50 retailers, the provision of memorable experience is crucial to the ongoing success of the centre. Each retailing experience is unique at Port Adelaide Plaza. Port Adelaide Plaza has been designed for the entire community the shopper, the retailer and also for those simply looking to experience the community. Places have been intertwined into the design to gather, to sit, to watch and to participate. Port Adelaide Plaza is for everyone.
