Directors AMA Charter 3233 Coordinators Ted & Terri Beers Phone: (607) 563-2083 Phone: (607) 988-0081 Volume 28, No 9 Online at: www.amadist3.com/hhr September 2013 AUGUST BREAKFAST Our turn out today was good at 66, but there were only 36 who actually did the ride. It was a beautiful day for a change and the view was great. I would like to do the same ride again in the fall when the leaves have changed. The birthday drawing was won by Jackie and she also won $2.00 on the ticket. Someday maybe we will have another big winner like the $100.00 that was won quite a few years ago. The 50/50 was won by John Cronk s grandson. There were quite a few new faces this morning, didn t have time to get all the names but three that I knew where our daughter Wendi and our grandkids, Gavin and Rylie who are visiting for the week from Long Island. The four of us did the ride in a car with the kids sleeping most of the way in the back seat. We also did the riddle sheet and even though I thought we had most of the right answers, I found out we didn t and someone else beat us. It was fun and made the ride more interesting. Our poker hand was won by Leslie Davidson with 3 -Aces. The 50/50 at the Rod and Gun Club was won by Dave Davidson, and Ruth Reynolds won the $25.00 gas gift card which was donated by the Hess station outside of Sidney. If you bought something there and got a receipt, your receipt was put in for the drawing of the gas card. When we stopped, all four of us got separate receipts thinking that would give us a greater chance, but that wasn t to be. I believe everyone went home with a door prize. I would like to thank everyone who brought something and also to Walt and Jim and Anita for doing the cooking. The hamburger I had was done just right. A little pink on the inside, perfect. We didn t have anyone who had volunteered to cook until Walt stepped up at the last luncheon and did. A great job again this year Dave, Leslie, Jim and Marcy. Leslie is making a video for Marcy and Jim who were greatly missed. Just doesn t seem the same without Marcy and her jewelry. Every time I see certain jewelry I always think of Marcy. Also, thank you to the ones who volunteered to take the post for the card draws on route, and you didn t have to worry about rain, only a shady spot which everyone had. Until next month 1
Lunch in September When we went to Koch s in Leeds on a Wednesday ride, we discovered they are closing permanently in October. Since they have been so good to the Retreads over the years, we decided we d do our September lunch there at 1 on Saturday, September 28 th. If you would like to go as a group, we will leave the Price Chopper parking lot at 11:00. Rain or shine if we can t take bikes, car pooling would be a good idea as it is 1.5 hours away. The owner is going to be 80, and since she does almost all the cooking and baking, she s decided to hang up her chef s hat. Her daughter was our waitress and said it s a bittersweet time. Please join us for a great lunch and camaraderie! Let s Meet for Lunch There were 13 attending the luncheon today at The Schoolhouse in Downsville. A very quaint place with good food and very reasonable prices. All the times we have driven by there when going to Long Island to visit our daughter and we had never stopped there before. I m sure we will now! Our 50/50 was won by Ray and Elma which I m sure was a nice surprise for them. The plan for the day was to go to Jim and Marcy s for ice cream after, but that was not meant to be. Jim got a call to come home. We were to learn later that Marcy was no longer suffering and had left all of this behind. Our thoughts and prayers will be with Jim and his family. We have lost many good friends in our group to this disease. We have also had some who have survived it as well and for that we are truly grateful. 2013 Poker Run Marcy Barr A Wonderful Lady You will be missed There were 36 people involved in the Poker Run this year. A considerably lower amount than usual. We hope that next year more will participate. Dave & Leslie & Jim & Marcy Barr did a terrific job on the planning & executing the run. This is our one & only charity event that we have each year, and hopefully we can continue it. Put it on your Calendar for next year. Thank you for all those that came & helped out. 1943-2013 2013 Events September 9 12, Retread International Rally - Americana Conference Resort & Spa Niagara Falls, OT September 15th Retread Picnic/Chili Run 1:00pm Otego,NY For Sale November 3rd Sunday 4:00-8:00pm Holiday Party at Brook s BBQ Oneonta, NY www.amadist3.com/hhr Check our flyer table at the Breakfast and also our web site for flyers for the above Events Call Ted Beers (607) 988-0081 or Ray Taylor (607) 563-2083 Suzuki C50 2005 805cc Saddle Seat Adjustable passenger seat pad 13,820 miles comes with 2000lb gnwr Trailer. $9,500 for all For more info Call 607-432-4702 3
