Seaplane specific requirements Annex I Definitions Seaplane means a fixed wing aircraft which is designed for taking off and landing on water and includes amphibians operated as seaplanes. 12
Seaplane specific requirements CAT.IDE.A.285 Flight over water (a), and seaplanes operated overwater, shall be equipped with a life-jacket for each person on board or equivalent flotation device for each person on board younger than 24 months, stowed in a position that is readily accessible from the seat or berth of the person for whose use it is provided. 13
Seaplane specific requirements CAT.IDE.A.285 Flight over water (c) Seaplanes operated over water shall be equipped with: (1) a sea anchor and other equipment necessary to facilitate mooring, anchoring or manoeuvring the aircraft on water, appropriate to its size, weight and handling characteristics; and (2) equipment for making the sound signals as prescribed in the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, where applicable. 14
Seaplane specific requirements General For the time being, rules for seaplanes and landplanes are identical with only minor exceptions It would be appreciated to get input from a seaplane perspective in particular for Operating procedures Requirements for performance and operating limitation 15
Summary EASA appreciates all seaplane related comments during the CRD consultation phase OPS rules should be finalised by end of this year
