Your role as Camp Card Chair is to teach your Scouts how to sell. To get there, your unit needs to employ all three sales methods. Create a plan and train your Scouts in all three methods. This will give you the best results. HOW TO SELL Door to Door - Take your Sales Kit and Cards for a trip around the neighborhood. Highlight the great coupons! Ask your Patrol or Den to schedule a Blitz Day. This is a day when your fellow Scouts select a neighborhood and go door-to-door as a group to ask people to buy Camp Cards. Show & Sell (store front sales) - Set up a sales booth and sell Camp Cards on the spot. This can be an effective approach in the right location at the right time, but don t hang your hat on this approach alone. Focus on multiple locations at the same time. Be sure not to over schedule Scouts. Sell at Work - Great for Mom and Dad to help their Scout. Have Mom and Dad take the Sales Kit to work. Most importantly, when you are selling Camp Cards tell the people what the money is for! Sales techniques for Scouts Scout parents will appreciate that selling Camp Cards provides their child with an opportunity to improve self-confidence through public speaking. When selling, Scouts should: Wear their uniform. Smile and introduce themselves (first name only). Explain that they are raising money for summer camp, day camp, etc. Share a personal testimony of their time in Scouting. Explain that Camp Cards can save the buyer money on local purchases. Close the sale. Thank the buyer.
Each unit should have a Camp Card Chair. Their responsibilities are to manage all aspects of the sale and to clearly communicate sale information to your leaders, parents and Scouts. Responsibilities: Set a unit goal and per Scout sales goal for your Unit Kickoff. Secure locations and coordinate storefront sales. Prepare handouts for Unit Kickoff meeting for leaders, parents and Scouts. Explain the Camp Card program to your adult leaders. Recruit one or more parents as Assistant Chairs, as needed. Plan sales activities. Arrange to pick-up more Camp Cards at Council Office as needed. Collect and tally money from Scouts and submit one check payable to the Three Fires Council for Total Amount Due by May 15, 2019 at the Norris Service Center, 415 N. 2nd Street, St. Charles, IL 60174. Credit card payments over $250 will be charged a 3% processing fee. Submit Camp Card Contest Verification Form when applicable Update your Unit each week on sales total (post results at Unit meeting place). Your Unit Kickoff The objectives of your Camp Card kickoff are simple: 1. Get Scouts excited about Summer Camp/Day Camp. 2. Inform parents about why their child should attend Summer Camp. How can you ensure a successful kickoff? Make sure the kickoff is properly promoted through email, phone and social media. Review the presentation with your Cubmaster or Scoutmaster prior to the meeting. Be prepared to talk about Summer Camp opportunities. Have snacks, drinks and music. WHAT IS A CAMP CARD CHAIR?
