trough the NATURE to the best of YOU th o u t d o o r t r a i n n i g A UNIQUE OUTDOOR SEMINAR Through the Nature to the Best of You(th) INFO PACK June 29th July 9th 2018, Hotel Tivoli *** Vysoke Tatry, Tatranska Polianka, Slovakia Application deadline: 24th May 2018
We are offering a very unique and special project quite different from other Erasmus+ projects you might have heard of or experienced, so, probably you don t want to miss it! Seminar Through the Nature to the Best of You(th) is quite experiential and experimental in its design. There are countless researches on the power of nature to reduce stress, improve mood, increase creativity and promote general human well-being. Although there are few initiatives that promote being outdoors (mostly related to adventure education), using this as a conscious non-formal educational approach for youth empowerment and inclusion is still very under-developed. This is due to the fact that educators themselves are often not aware about the power of the approach and are not confident or lack skills to use in daily work with young people. With this training course we want to give chance for 26 youth workers, educators and youth (scout) leaders that work with young people on the regular basis to experience the power of non-formal learning in the nature and outdoors for the personal empowerment and social development, and motivate them to use theese skills more often in work with young people as a tool. This training course will be strongly based on Experiential Learning approach and include many activities in the nature and outdoors. In the middle of the training, participants will have the chance to experience a unique activity a 3 day adventure hike in mountains with many tasks and challenges to learn from. At the second half of the training participants will be expected to create own non-formal learning activities in the nature that could later on be implemented with young people. And, as we believe that Through the Nature we could get to the Best of You(th) - with this seminar, we want to explore together with you how to use the great outdoor for youth work! The seminar activities will partly take place indoors (8 days in a 3* hotel in one of the highest elevated villages of Slovakia) and partly outdoors (2 days of hiking in the high moutains and two nights in the mountain's huts). As the contents of the project will largely depend on participants contributions in terms of sharing experiences working with young people, we expect all participants to have a REAL experience in youth work and non-formal education for some time and maturity as personalities. If the candidates offered by partner organizations will be too unsuitable, we keep the rights to choose other participants.
