Dear participant, thank you for registering for the Clonal Plants meeting in Trebon. Here are a few final practicalities. Symposium programme is now available at the conference website (and attached to this mail). As planned, there will be three days of talks/posters, and one day (Friday) of excursion. Talks will be in the 15 (talk) + 5 (discussion) format; posters should be A0 (portrait) format. A sad news is that Karl Niklas had to cancel his invited talk (see the programme). On Tuesday there will be a short guided walk around the town and a Renaissance music concert (Capella Mariana vocal ensemble; http://www.cappellamariana.com/en/) in the city main church (when we were advertising the place as a historic town, we should deliver something). There will be a symposium dinner on Thursday (included in the symposium fee). Getting there Air The best connection is from Prague Vaclav Havel International Airport (PRG), although you may also fly to Vienna's Schwechat. The best option to get from the Prague airport is to take the AE (Airport express) bus line. (The sad thing with the Prague airport is that in spite of 20 years of intensive discussions on the topic there is no train connection to the city from there.) Buses leave both from Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, departing every fifteen minutes (detailed time table is attached) from a platform immediately in front of each terminal. Tickets for the bus are bought at the driver (in Czech koruna therefore it may help to get some cash at the ATM at the airport hall, there are some both at the Terminal 1 and Terminal 2). These buses will take you to the Prague main railway station (Praha hlavni nadrazi). Train You need to take a train in the direction to Ceske Budejovice, get off at Veseli nad Luznici, and change for the local train to Trebon and Ceske Velenice; get off at Trebon- Lazne. This is one stop after the station Trebon i.e. do not panic when the train stops at Trebon, and get off only at the stop that follows. (Good news is that since anything is within walking distance in Trebon, you are likely to be able to find your way even if you incidentally get off at station Trebon, except that some better meals and drinks at the mixer party may be gone when you come. So do not panic either.) Train tickets must be bought before you get on the train; please make sure that you buy a ticket to Trebon- Lazne (not Trebon). Tickets can be bought in the main station hall (look for CD Centrum), but you can get it also online at https://www.cd.cz/eshop/default.aspx. (Click en at the page top.)
There will be volunteer students to help you with finding the train, getting tickets, and changing trains. If you need to contact them, please call or text to Tomas Koubek (number below), preferably not too much in advance. Train timetable to Trebon for Sunday 2 nd Aug and Monday 3 rd Aug is attached. Further information on public transport in the Czech Republic can be found here: http://jizdnirady.idnes.cz/vlakyautobusy/spojeni/ (click "English" at the right hand side of the screen). Car Trebon is located on the route 24 from Veseli nad Luznici to Schrems, Austria (and further to Vienna). When driving from Prague take the route 3 (E55) to Ceske Budejovice, leave it shortly after Veseli nad Luznici taking the route 24 (to Trebon, Halamky, Wien). When in Trebon, follow the map attached. NB. Driving on Czech highways requires a prepaid stamp ("dalnicni znamka"), but rented cars typically have it arranged (but check with the agent). Important We would appreciate if you let us know approximate time of your arrival (both to Prague and Trebon) beforehand (to the symposium email address). If you need any assistance with getting to Trebon (i.e. arriving too late to get the last train, arriving to an odd place with no connections etc.), please let us know, we will arrange something. Welcome party/mixer will take place at the Institute of Botany, which is walking distance from the railway station and most hotels/pensions (but anything is within walking distance in Trebon). It begins at 19:30. It is free for all symposium participants. Please come! Ph.D. course The course will begin at 9:00 at the Institute of Botany lecture hall. If you are taking part at the course, please arrive to Trebon on Sunday evening. There will be an informal gathering in the pub U Čerta ("At a Devil") at 19:30 (the pub is directly in the gate leading from the town main square to the Institute of Botany CAS). There is an additional file for the course participants (namely papers to read which will be discussed). Accommodation Those staying at the Student dormitory please contact Aja Bartuskova in advance to let her know the expected time of your arrival (+420 724 919 234 or akociano@seznam.cz).
Any other matters should be arranged directly with the places where you stay, but we will be happy to help if there are any difficulties. Important phone numbers Jitka Klimesova +420 776 177 082 Tomas Herben +420 723 062 502 Tomas Koubek (student helpers coordination) +420 737 449 485
