Founded in 1314 by the Bishop of Exeter, Walter de Stapeldon, Exeter College is the fourth oldest College in the University of Oxford and boasts many celebrated former students. J.R.R. Tolkien was an undergraduate here, as were William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones. Sir Roger Bannister, Alan Bennett, Philip Pullman and Martin Amis also studied here. We also offer a full WiFi facility throughout the site.
Quarrell Room The Quarrell Room provides a distinctive and agreeable space for lectures, seminars or meetings. The tables and chairs can be rearranged to suit the function of the room. The William Morris Room, which makes an ideal a number of Burne-Jones drawings and tapestries by William Morris. The Morris Room can be equipped with data projector or screen, Plenty of natural light and views onto the make this an ideal location for a boardroom or presentation. Stapeldon Room The Stapeldon Room is well suited for meetings, lectures and seminars.
Catering Exeter College has a proud history of catering at a very high level for functions of varying sizes. Our award winning Head Chef is always available to discuss menus and planning. Please ask for our current banqueting menus and winelist. Final numbers and dietary requirements are required at least seven days prior to the event. Organisers are asked to supply a seating plan for special dinners. The College can provide place cards and menu cards as part of your package. historic setting for all conference meals and is especially suited to banquets. The long, polished, wooden tables can seat a maximum capacity of 154 guests (minimum 40 during the week, 120 on Saturday or Sunday).
Residential facilities Room. The Rector is the head of the College and has given permission for this room to be used for private dinners and receptions. We can accommodate a maximum of 30 on three round tables. We can also arrange one rectangle table for 22. There is a private walled garden outside the room and this can be used for pre-dinner drinks. Old Bursary Suitable for dinners of 20. Camera. The garden can be used for drinks receptions up to 400.
Accommodation Residential accommodation is in rooms usually occupied by students in term time. These comprise a mixture of: single study/bedrooms single ensuite rooms twin ensuite rooms The total number of beds we can provide is 145, of which 30 are in single ensuite and 13 are twin ensuite (26 occupants). All rooms have a wash-hand basin and a hospitality tray with an electric kettle. There are bathrooms/showers and WCs on every staircase. There is one accessible adapted room in the College. Many of our single ensuite rooms have been recently refurbished. All our single standard rooms have wash-hand basins in the bedrooms. These sets comprise of a large sitting room, two private bedrooms and a bathroom. All the sets are in the Front Quad of the College. Cohen Quad called Cohen Quad. Exeter College can provide 21st century facilities in the heart of Oxford. We are able to host non-residential meetings in term and residential conferences in the Easter and summer vacations. Please request our separate brochure for more details. In addition to our facilities on the main site at Turl Street and Cohen Quad, the College has a graduate complex on single ensuite and single standard rooms for smaller groups.

If you are driving to Oxford it is advisable to use the Park and Ride service. There are five large Park and Ride areas on the city approaches, some with free car parking and frequent bus services into the city centre. The nearest short stay parking is in Parks Road and Broad Street. By train - Exeter is a 15 minute walk from Oxford Station, via Hythe Bridge Street, George Street, Broad Street and Turl Street. By coach - The nearest coach stop for London coaches is on the High Street by the Examination School. All other coaches will stop at the main coach station in Gloucester Green off George Street. Exeter College is a 10-minute walk from the coach station.
