MC-21 NEW GENERATION AIRCRAFT MC-21 - MEDIUM-RANGE AIRCRAFT WITH CAPACITY OF 163-211 SEATS 5-7% reduction in operating expenses compared with the best narrow-bodied aircraft Advanced aerodynamics; more than 30% of composites; up-to-date on-board systems Engines at customer's choice: Pratt & Whitney PW1400G-JM or United Engine Corporation PD-14 The best level of comfort in its class due to the maximum width of the fuselage 2
FLIGHT CERTIFICATION TESTS OF MC-21-300 The flights under the certification test programmes are performed by two aircraft Flight tests are being performed at the Ramenskoye airfield of the Gromov Flight Research Institute (city of Zhukovsky, Moscow Region) Working groups with the participation of the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) and EASA are taking part in the certification programme. First flights with EASA representatives have been performed Tests results confirm the correctness of technical solutions 3
FLIGHT TESTS INTERIM RESULTS The efficiency of all aircraft systems in a wide range of speeds and flight altitudes was confirmed Aircraft s characteristics of various takeoff/landing and cruise configurations have been checked Operability and characteristics of instrument landing system have been confirmed Corrections for air data system have been obtained Takeoff/landing characteristics for imitated failure of one engine have been estimated During the flight in the dark, the functioning of navigation and landing equipment, as well as external lighting equipment, were verified Engines thrust response has been estimated, including for asymmetric operation Launches of main engines and auxiliary power units were performed in-flight modes 4
FLIGHT TESTS INTERIM RESULTS Achievements: altitude - over 12,500 m, true speed - 949 km/h; flight duration 6.2 hours In certification flights at high angles of attack and stalling, maximum design angles of attack were achieved in takeoff, landing and cruise configurations Safe exit from the stall mode was demonstrated The safety of flutter confirmed when flying, the maximum design indicated speed and the maximum M were achieved 5
MC-21-300 AIRCRAFT PRODUCTION Test aircraft: The 3 d flight test aircraft - assembled, systems mounted, interior elements fitted. The final systems testing is carried out before transfer the aircraft to the flight station The 4 th flight test aircraft - the assembly of the fuselage is completing. Wing panels and empennage are manufactured Endurance test aircraft: the fuselage was assembled and delivered to TsAGI Aircraft for customers delivery: parts and assemblies are being manufactured, assembly of fuselage compartments has begun. 6
NEW TESTING BASE The new hangar for MC-21 aircraft basing and ground maintenance equipment, complex of collection, processing and analysis of flight information were put into operation The set of telemetric equipment provides real-time control and measurement results of tests New processing technologies provide high informational content of each flight (on-board measurement system registers up to 30,000 parameters) 7
STRENGTH TESTS OF MC-21-300 The Static tests of the aircraft in TsAGI The certification static tests programme of the airframe has been conducted since 2017 Tests were performed on the cases of the entire airframe loading on the determining design cases: steady-state maneuver in combination with overpressure, landing impact, side gust Static strength tests of aileron, air-brake, spoiler, and their wing fitting assemblies, fore and rear parts of wing have been completed According to the results of the work performed, the main restrictions imposed on the aircraft at the initial stage of flight tests are being removed. 8
STRENGTH TESTS OF THE COMPOSITE UNITS In TsAGI the necessary strength reserve of the composite wing box structure needed for flight testing has been experimentally confirmed. The test-bench for wing panel fatigue testing is under preparation The isolated tests of high-lift devices and control devices with taking into account climatic factors and impact damages has been completed. The strength of the units against maximum possible loads in the most aggressive operational conditions has been confirmed. High-lift devices and control devices have been successfully undergoing endurance tests By November 2018, the horizontal empennage box has endured 180,000 flight cycles. Tests are ongoing 9
SERIAL PRODUCTION PREPARATIONS The production level of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant will be gradually brought to its maximum of 72 MC-21 aircraft per year. The first stage of the automated assembly line was put into operation The construction of the Logistics Center, which is equipped with an automated warehouse management system, has been completed The construction of airfield testing and customization buildings has been started The 2nd stage of the automated electroplating line is commissioned 10
CONTRACT WITH AEROFLOT - RUSSIAN AIRLINES On February 1, 2018, the Avia Capital Services leasing company (subsidiary of State Corporation Rostec) signed the contract with Aeroflot - Russian Airlines on the operating leasing of 50 MC-21-300 aircraft. Delivery period is from 2020 to 2026, lease term is 12 years with an option to renew it Layout features 16 business class seats and 153 economy class seats The contract was signed in the development of a previously concluded contract between Avia Capital Services leasing company and Irkut Corporation for the MC-21 aircraft delivery The total number of firm prepaid orders is 175 aircraft. The total number of orders under agreements of intent is about 150 aircraft. 11
TECHNICAL TRAINING MEANS Aeroflot and Irkut Corporation are creating the joint training center for MC-21 flight and engineering personnel training. The center is equipped with eight simulators, including the integrated simulator with mobility system (FFS Level D) The center is located at the base airport of Aeroflot Airlines Sheremetyevo 12
