Even Sophocles mentions Budva in his tragedy "Oicles", written in 5th century BC. Old Town is the trademark of Budva. Originally built on an island, a sand isthmus developed between it and the main land and so it became a peninsula. Old Town Budva is a unique architectural and urban unit that was already mentioned as a settlement in ancient times.
