WELCOME TO KAWKAWA CAMP We are so excited that you are joining us for Camp this summer. Thank you for choosing Kawkawa. In this handbook you will find some important information about camp that will help you prepare for your time here. Please read it carefully. This year our theme is The Future is Now. Our drama closet has ample supplies of costumes to suit many of the themed meals. One of the evening meals will be a formal meal and so campers may wish to bring their own casual formal. Registration will open at 6pm on the first day of camp. Please ensure you have all your paperwork completed BEFORE arriving at camp, including medical forms, payment, etc, as this significantly speeds up the registration process. Tuck money can now be loaded into your account online. Supper is not provided for campers on the first day of camp, so please make sure you have eaten before arrival. we do provide a snack around 8pm. Pick up on the last day camp will be 4.30pm. Please arrive promptly and if for any unforeseen reason you are delayed please call our office and let us know. Do not leave the site without signing out your child, picking up any leftover medications from the camp nurse and ensuring they have all their belongings. If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact the office on 604-869-9637 or email us at: alicia@kawkawa.com "I focus on this one thing: forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead." Camp Information and Policies It's important that you read the following camp policies and information specific to attending camp prior to arrival. Our Philosophy Our ministry is to proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour and to glorify Him in all aspects of life. Christian camping at Kawkawa is where positive memories and life changing decisions take place. Kawkawa seeks to provide for the spiritual and developmental needs of each child. Our focus also involves leadership training and equipping our staff for future work in church and community. Medical Form Please ensure you complete the online medical form as part of the registration process. This form will allow you to specify dietary needs and will enable the camp nurse to provide the best care for your child. Please note that we are not a peanut free camp and while we try to accommodate campers with nut allergies we cannot guarantee traces of nuts will not be found in some ingredients. If you have any concerns please feel free to contact us. Cancellation Policy Cancellation must be in writing. Cancellation more than 4 weeks before camp start will result in 75% of the full cost of the camp being refunded. Cancellations 2-4 weeks before the camp start date will result in 50% of the full cost of the camp being refunded. Cancellations less than 2 weeks before camp start date will result in 25% of the full cost of the camp being refunded. There is no refund once camp starts and no adjustment for campers who arrive late or leave early. A child's registration may be transferable to another week in the same summer season if space allows. Registration Policy Registration is on a first come basis. Confirmation will be emailed to each camper confirming his/her registration. If a confirmation email is not received within two days of registering please check your online account or contact the office to confirm you status.

Camp Information and Policies (Cont) Camp Behaviour Kawkawa reserves the right to dismiss a camper who presents a hazard to the safety of others or who appears to have rejected the reasonable controls of the camp. Under such circumstances there will be no refund of camp fees. Camp Policies Cigarettes, alcohol and illicit drugs are prohibited. No camper or staff will be allowed to have these items on his/her possession at camp. Waterfront Safety Safety during waterfront times is paramount to Kawkawa Camp. Campers will not be permitted on the beach without a member of staff. Furthermore, campers will not be permitted to enter the water during waterfront time unless a lifeguard is present. Image Release Registration and attendance at, or participation in Kawkawa Camp program and activities constitutes an agreement by the registrant and/or guardian. All boating activities including, but not limited to, canoeing, kayaking, tubing and use of surf bikes will require the use of an appropriately fitted life jacket. A swim test will take place at the start of each week. Any camper who the lifeguards believe demonstrates a weakness in their swimming ability will be informed and thereafter required to wear a life jacket for swim times.
