Contents Market Summary Market Report Salary Guide About Experis i These survey results are recognised throughout the Australian IT industry as an accurate representation of the industry and a market leading source of quality insights and opinions. All survey responses, comments and insights have been consolidated for this Australian IT Recruitment Market Insights and Salary Guide 2018. This survey was carried out during June-July 2017 and distributed via an online questionnaire and received 2,102 responses. 2

Market Update The digital transformations underway in a range of industries continue to drive demand for the development and testing sector. This is especially true as it moves to new tech such as Angular, and in languages such as Swift at the enterprise level. Digital and web application test analysts are being snapped up. Demand is high and salaries will continue to reflect this. However, time is limited and wages will plateau when market demand decreases across a number of high-profile roles. Not only is the application of cloud development driving more testing, but also the internet of things is driving a strong trend towards mobile app development. Skills in demand include: AngularJS Xamarin Mobile-first responsive development Cloud computing AWS Additionally, cultural fit and other soft skills are increasingly important as IT needs reflect the business needs as a whole and the list of stakeholders involved in digital transformation projects grows wider. The ability to understand the nature of a role in relation to the overall business itself is becoming even more important, and translating IT speak for stakeholders in a range of positions while articulating business value are crucial skills. For job seekers, it s crucial to continue developing skills across a wider range of technologies. Being a full-stack developer will provide an advantage over those who specialise in one particular area. Employers are increasingly looking for candidates with a demonstrated passion for technology and motivation to embrace and keep up with the fastpaced evolution of their technology landscape. Employers need to work quickly to find candidates as they are snapped up fast. Hiring managers need to develop strong marketing strategies for candidate attraction and retention, such as opportunities for training, career growth and development, and a strong focus on company culture and benefits. Test analysts are still in demand, particularly in the media, telecommunications and banking industries. There is also a growing need for Automation Testers with good communication skills. Employers are adding multiple technologies to the skillsets they require, and are often asking for full-stack developers rather than just front-end or back-end specialisations. 3
