Our island state is dependent on air transportation and Hawaiian Airlines has been an excellent provider since 1929. Tourism is our state s largest industry and Hawaiian s extensive schedule provides frequent connections to all Hawaiian islands, as well as other out of state destinations creating expansion opportunities to many markets. Direct air service from Japan to Kona will provide an estimated additional $74 million dollars into the economy of Hawaii. Presently, the state of Hawaii is the largest travel market for Japanese visitors to the U.S. Kona is the second largest origin and destination market without a nonstop flight making it one of the most underserved markets in the United States. Our business is a family owned retail grocery chain on the Island of Hawaii. We have been in business since 1916 and have experienced the ups and downs of our economy for over 97 years. We believe the direct Japan to Kona service will be a positive opportunity for our local economy to grow. We strongly recommend the U.S. Department of Transportation approve Hawaiian Airlines application. They have established a strong and differentiated brand presence in Tokyo and have an exemplary record of leading the nation s carriers in on-time service for the past nine years. Please feel free to contact me via email at barry_taniguchi@ktasuperstores.com if you have any questions regarding our letter of support for Hawaiian Airlines. Sincerely, Barry K. Taniguchi President

November 21, 2013 The Honorable Anthony Foxx Secretary of Transportation U.S. Department of Transportation 1200 New Jersey Ave., S. E. Washington, D.C. 20590 RE: DOT-OST-2010-0018 Aloha Secretary Foxx: I am writing in support of the daily nonstop flight between Tokyo International Airport at Haneda and Kona International Airport beginning on or about April 1, 2014. The utilization of the 294-seat Airbus 330-200 aircraft amounts to more than 107,000 seats coming to Hawaii every year. The Japanese visitor numbers are strengthening to Hawaii and the Island of Hawaii has been a favorite for them, but it also presents another port of entry for the entire state, particularly for the island of Maui. Unfortunately, Maui is not likely to be able to offer nonstop service in the near future and Konaʻs airport would be a wonderful second opportunity for the Japanese visitor to come to Maui, with visitors maybe staying on both islands during their visit. This will create jobs, strengthen our economy and provide a one stop flight to the United States. Kona is the second highest origin and destination market without nonstop service to Tokyo. I humbly ask for your consideration and favorable nod to the request by Hawaiian Airlines for their nonstop daily flight between Tokyo and Kona, Hawaii. Aloha, Terryl Vencl Executive Director

Dec 5, 2013 Friends of Hawaiian Airlines Hawaian Airlines HI 96820 0008 DOT OST 2010 0018 The Honorable Anthony Foxx Secretary of Transportation U.S. Department of Transportation 1200 New Jersey Ave., S.E. Washington, D.C. 20590 I am writing you to strongly support Hawaiian Airlines' application to provide daily nonstop service between Tokyo International Airport at Haneda and Kona International Airport on Hawai'i Island. This route would be extremely beneficial to the economy of Hawai'i and, by extension, the economy of the United States. Using a 294 seat Airbus 300 200 aircraft, Hawaiian will be offering 107,000 seats into Hawai'i every year. The influx of additional passengers, who shop in local stores, stay in local hotels and eat in local restaurants. Hawaiian is our hometown airline, recognized for its great on time performance as well as customer service that reflects our unique island hospitality. It has grown into one of the state's largest companies, with more than 5,200 employees, and I support its continued expansion. Hawaiian Airlines' application has clear and compelling public benefits and I urge you to approve it. October 30, 2013 The Honorable Anthony Foxx Secretary of Transportation U.S. Department of Transportation 1200 New Jersey Ave., S.E. Washington, D.C. 20590 RE: DOT Docket # OST-2010-0018 Aloha Secretary Foxx, On behalf of the Courtyard King Kamehameha s Kona Beach Hotel and our employees, I am submitting this letter in strong support of the application by Hawaiian Airlines, Inc. to provide passenger air service from Kona International Airport, Hawai i Island to Tokyo International Airport at Haneda. We welcome the exciting news that Hawaiian Airlines has again filed an application for a daily, direct flight between Haneda, Japan and Kona. The prospect of additional 294 people per day to our island can stimulate significant and import growth to our hotel and our local economy. With the loss JAL s direct flight from Japan into Kona, the Island of Hawaii has been struggling to keep attracting our visitors from Japan who may choose elsewhere with direct flights. Establishing a direct flight from Haneda, Japan to Kona, Hawaii is key to see results for growth in our visitor arrivals, daily spending, hotel occupancy, restaurant covers and activity bookings. The Courtyard King Kamehameha s Kona Beach Hotel has been providing hospitality to our visitors and has been an integral part of our community for over 40 years. Our business is largely depending on customers traveling by air and a large percentage of our business is supported by our Far East customers. In speaking with our partners in the industry including tour operators and travel agents who book customers from Japan, their number one concern is airlift into Kona and the ability to get a direct flight. Hawaiian Airlines has a proven track record and has already established a strong presence in Japan with its Honolulu Haneda, Osaka and Fukuoka connection and is the preferred airline of the islands. We feel confident that Hawaiian Airlines is the right choice to service this route and to strengthen our close ties between Hawaii and Japan. This additional direct flight delivers a much needed boost for our economy, for the airline industry, for the visitor industry in Hawaii, most importantly employment for our residents. We kindly ask and urge the Department to approve Hawaiian Airlines application for an operating slot at Haneda to allow service for a direct flight between Haneda, Japan and Kona, Hawai`i. With warm regards, Jak Hu General Manager 75-5660 Palani Road / Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740 Telephone (808) 329-2911 / Fax (808) 329-4602

October 30, 2013 The Honorable Anthony Foxx Secretary of Transportation U.S. Department of Transportation 1200 New Jersey Ave., S.E. Washington, D.C. 20590 RE: DOT Docket # OST-2010-0018 Aloha Secretary Foxx, I am submitting this letter in strong support of the application by Hawaiian Airlines, Inc. to provide passenger air service from Kona International Airport, Hawai i Island to Tokyo International Airport at Haneda. This new, daily direct flight will have the capacity to bring an additional 107,000 visitors a year and positively impact our island s economy. Our company provides independent 3 rd party Project Management services to many of the international hotel and hospitality companies through-out Hawaii. In particular we have been working this Hilton Worldwide and Hilton Grand Vacation on renovations to the hotel and construction of new timeshare projects on the west side of Hawai i island. Many of the tourists that visit our island and are hotel guest and timeshare owners are from Asia. Access to the island is hindered by the lack of direct flights from places like Japan to Kona and should Hawaiian Airlines be granted approval for this application, the local economy will benefit significantly from this. I urge the Department to approve Hawaiian Airlines application for an operating slot at Haneda to allow service for a direct flight between Haneda, Japan and Kona, Hawai`i.
