The holder of the post need not be disabled themselves but should have some understanding of the difficulties facing disabled persons. Sport and Recreation Alliance Sport and Recreational Alliance. A body representing the political interests of sporting recreation and offering some practical assistance to sporting bodies. Chief Test Pilot (Flexwing) Bill Brooks Bill Brooks Chief Test Pilot appointments require CAA approval. Chief Test Pilot (3-Axis) Chief Test Pilot appointments require CAA approval. Head of Check Flying Ben Syson Ben Syson This position is specified in the BMAA Technical Exposition as part of the A8-26 approval and is appropriately held by the BMAA CTO who also has responsibility for Test Flying activity. Colibri promotion European Microlight Federation Delegate Frank Hodgson Neil King Frank Hodgson Neil King Checking applications, recommending awards and attempting to promote the Colibri System to BMAA members. The general aim of the EMF is to promote and protect Microlighting (using the description of aircraft to be found in paragraph (e) of Annex II of Regulation (EC) No 1592/2002 on common rules in the field of civil aviation and establishing a European Aviation Safety Agency, which is taken to include all aircraft types, in Europe and to actively participate in the formulation of regulations and actions that may concern this activity so as to ensure its welfare and the free movement of microlights. FAI CIMA Delegate To represent UK Microlighting at the international body that awards World records and controls World and European aviation sporting titles.

Alternate FAI CIMA Delegate Barney Townsend Barney Townsend Alternate FAI CIACA Delegate/ EAS Homebuilt WG CIACA = FAI Amateur-Built and Experimental Aircraft Commission Derek Lamb CIACA and EFLEVA are both European committees for homebuilt aircraft. CIACA is a sub-section of the FAI, and looks after homebuilding within that organisation. Since the FAI is mainly about competitive aviation, homebuilding isn't exactly top of their priorities, but they did try to organise something for the World Air Games in Italy in 2009. GA Alliance Group of GA associations with a common interest. Mainly concerned with regulatory matters. GAAC General Aviation Awareness Council. This post involves coordination with other organisations on issues affecting airfields such as planning and regulation of use. The BMAA representative is a Board member of GAAC. GAP General Aviation Partnership (CAA), formally the General Aviation Consultative Committee. This post involves discussion with CAA with other organisations on political and regulatory issues. GASCo Council and Board The GASCo Council post is generally filled by the BMAA Safety Officer, the Board position is a policy making position and appropriate for the BMAA CE to fill. NATMAC The National Air Traffic Management Advisory Committee (CAA). This post involves coordination with other organisations on political and regulatory issues affecting airspace in particular. NPPL P&SG This post involves planning and oversight of the NPPL Licence system. There are policy decisions made by the Committee and so it is appropriate that the BMAA CE attends. Planning Liaison Addressing Planning Issues. Assisted by the GAAC planning advisor. Public Relations GW on hand on a day-to-day basis to answer requests from the public.

Our membership ensures that our opinions is heard and respected more widely, both in the UK and overseas. To provide general advice and guidance to the BMAA on microlight related medical matters and to give specific assistance to microlight pilots. New Horizons build-a-plane projects. To advise the Council on publicity and marketing matters. To propose BMAA publicity and marketing goals. Point of contact for SSDR and foot launched microlight issues. FAI Sporting Licence Admin BMAA Office Transferred to BMAA Office Checking applications and issuing FAI sporting Licences for BMAA members.

BMAA Posts, Representatives and Sub-Committees 2018-2019 Sub-committee 2018 2018 / 19 Comments BMAA Strategy subcommittee (C) (C) This committee produced a report to the Council in 2011. The committee is responsible for proposing future strategy for the BMAA in its widest form, e.g. taking on greater responsibility from CAA. Updated report produced in 2014 Finance sub-committee (C) Gavin Teasdale (C) To assist the position of Treasurer. AoA and Rules of the BMAA. (Formally the Constitution sub-committee) To advise the Council on proposed changes to the Articles of Association (AoA) and rules. To review the AoA and Rules from time to time for continued relevance to UK or European law, or the activities of the BMAA and advise Council on any proposed changes. Technical sub-committee (C) Paul Welsh (C) Paul Welsh Ben Syson Rob Mott To formulate and promote technical strategy and policy, and seek to simplify regulation where appropriate through liaison with BMAA technical staff, CAA and members. Staff and Remuneration subcommittee (C) (C) Gavin Teasdale Deals with staff matters with the CE as appropriate Bursary (C) (C) Invites applications for youth flight training bursaries; makes recommendations for the grant of bursaries.
