Urban Water Shuttle Fully battery operated transportation 33 Wärtsilä INTERNAL 20.02.18 Conference in Athens at Ministry of Marine Affairs
The Urban Water Shuttle Zero emission high-speed vessel The Urban Water Shuttle (UWS) is an energy-efficient, highspeed vessel concept for passenger transport. The vessel will be propelled using the latest zero emission technology. This project is about shaping a new international industry within passenger transport and other related markets. To view the video: Search for Urban Water Shuttle on Vimeo, or follow the following link to our homepage: http://www.maritimecleantech.no/content.aspx?page105064 34 Wärtsilä INTERNAL 20.02.18 Conference in Athens at Ministry of Marine Affairs
MAIN GOAL FOR UWS The projects main goal is to develop, and in next phase demonstrate, an energy optimal, zero emission, fast going passenger vessel to the lowest possible CAPEX in a chosen connection. The idea is to realize the UWS zero emission concept from a design to become a commercial and market leading product for environmental, cost efficience and fast going passenger transport, nationally and internationally. The project will, through close cooperation between research- and industrial partners and actual customers, further develop todays state of the art within electrical power systems for fast going vessels. This will contribute to extend the maritime use of zero emission technology. 35 Wärtsilä INTERNAL 20.02.18 Conference in Athens at Ministry of Marine Affairs

WIRELESS CHARGING 39 Wärtsilä INTERNAL 20.02.18 Conference in Athens at Ministry of Marine Affairs
THE NEW WÄRTSILÄ FAST CHARGING SOLUTION Operational principle DC Power is converted to high frequency current flowing in the inductive sending coil. Resonance capacitors compensate voltage drop. Current in inductive sending coil creates a controlled magnetic field. Magnetic field from sending side creates a current in the inductive pick-up coil. High frequency current flowing in the inductive pick-up coil is rectified to DC Power. Power is stored in the ship batteries. Distance : 150-500mm + Power : 2,5 MW + Supply voltage : 690VAC / 1000VDC 40 Wärtsilä INTERNAL Inductive charging
WÄRTSILÄ WIRELESS CHARGING Can be standarized for all ferries and port terminals Transfer of >2,5 MW power for a single system. Paralell systems or larger plates with higher ratings Increase time for energy transfer by fast connection and late disconnection Improved safety during operation as no mecanical connection is established Reduced maintenance cost Fully automated system Combined with auto mooring the propulsion can be shut down during docking Shore connection to AC or DC or both as standard. Improve grid voltage quality 41 Wärtsilä INTERNAL 20.02.18 Conference in Athens at Ministry of Marine Affairs
