Mkulumadzi Majete Wildlife Reserve 3 nights Majete is Malawi s only Big Five Reserve and also one of the largest protected areas, covering an area of over 70,000ha. The reserve is located within the miombo woodland ecoregion and much of the higher lying areas in the west of the park are dominated by miombo/brachystegia woodland. Mixed combretum woodlands and mosaics of riparian forest can be found in the east of Majete. Mkulumadzi, Majete Wildlife Reserve enjoys a stunning location on the confluence of two rivers. The luxurious lodge is in a stunning location and activities include game-drives, boating safaris, bush walks, hiking Majete Hill, black rhino tracking, cultural tours, birding trips on the Shire River and game-viewing from a hide. Guests are free to be as energetic or idle as they please, although at least one activity per day is encouraged to best enjoy Majete. Accommodation Guests arrive by a footbridge suspended over the Mkulumadzi River to discover a friendly welcome and many home comforts. The lodge has a restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining, a lounge and terrace, a bar and shop, swimming pool, viewing deck and a lapa for evening campfires. The perfect combination of luxury and isolation, Mkulumadzi boasts eight superb chalets set on the banks of the Shire River, shaded by giant leadwood trees and wild mangos. Pumulani Lake Malawi 4 nights Pumulani s location is recognised as one of the most beautiful shores of the Lake and borders Lake Malawi National Park. This Park was established in order to protect the cichlid fish unique to the area. In 1984 the park was designated a World Heritage Site. Pumulani is exclusively situated on the westside of the Nankumba Peninsula, surrounded by national park. The ten villas are scattered around the hillside and are individual in shape and style but all have a spacious bedroom, bathroom and extensive sitting area. The front sliding doors open onto the deck elevated above the ground giving optimal views. Our remote beach setting is ideal for those who simply want to soak up the sun and swim in the clear blue waters of the lake. Those who prefer to take a dive in the swimming pool, there is an infinity swimming pool near the central dining area with grand views over the lake. For those seeking activity we offer many watersports like snorkelling, fishing, sailing, kayaking, waterskiing, wake boarding and fun tube rides (all motorized activities are charged extra). At the end of the day climb aboard our dhow and let our experienced local crewmen take you sailing into the sunset. Lake Malawi is the world s most ecologically diverse lake. Its crystal clear waters are home to more than a thousand species of fish, including hundreds of species of colourful cichlids. Quick Itinerary Day 1 Mkulumadzi On arrival at Blantyre International Airport a representative will meet and assist you. The drive to Mkulumadzi is approximately 2.5 hours through colourful local scenes of villages, agriculture as well as bush. Depending on your arrival time in the day you will enjoy a lunch looking out over the Shire River or if in the afternoon for tea and the afternoon and night game drive. Perfect location to start your safari as David Livingstone is recorded to have entered Malawi by way of the Shire River. Day 2 to 3 Accommodation and activities at Mkulumadzi for your wildlife safari experience Day 4 Transfer to Pumulani will be after breakfast, by a beautiful and scenic drive through game area and village life (approximately 5 hours). Then you will reach the Nankumba Peninsula of Lake Malawi. Day 5 to 7 Accommodation and activities at Pumulani and the Lake of Stars, Lake Malawi Day 8 Depart this special journey as you transfer back to Lilongwe and your return home or onward travel arrangements with Captured In Africa.
