The Academy of European Law Trier (ERA) is a continuous training institution and discussion forum for all European lawyers. It was founded in 1992 on the initiative of the European Parliament as a public foundation and has its seat in Trier. In 1998 the Academy of European Law opened the ERA Conference Centre (ECC). Its facilities provide an ideal venue for organisations, associations and professional event agencies for conferences and other events. Trier, Germany s oldest city lies between the unspoilt and romantic forests of the Hunsrück and the Eifel and the idyllic valleys of the Moselle, Saar, Ruwer and Sauer rivers. Since the time when it was the residence of the Roman emperors the Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles of architecture have all left their mark in the form of impressive buildings. To stroll through Trier is to take a journey through time. Close proximity to the borders of France and Luxembourg and the vineyards that can be found in many different areas guarantee a range of both cultural and gastronomic experiences.
