Welcome address We cordially invite you to participate in the International Workshop on Environmental Engineering 2019 (IWEE2019) that will be held in Okinawa, Japan, on June 25-28, 2019. The conference will be hosted at the Bankoku Shinryokan Resort MICE Facility. The 2019 Symposium on Environmental Engineering (2019SEE) will be held concurrently at the same time and place. The events are organized by the Environmental Engineering Division of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers (JSME). In this conference, we will facilitate not only the debate and dissemination of information regarding the effort and research development into various environmental problems around the world, but also the discussion regarding sustainable city formation and the trend of regulations and standards in the future. Furthermore, awards for the oral presentations in the IWEE2019 and 2019SEE for young researchers and for the poster presentations in the IWEE2019 for students will be given after careful consideration. We look forward to your active participation. Owing to the beauty of its location, the island of Okinawa is the ideal meeting point for the people of the G8 Summit. Surrounded by a coral reef, it will fill you with a wonder for nature, as well as offer excellent traditional art and cuisine with a renowned warmth and hospitality. On June 25, we look forward to welcoming you to a Technical Tour in the afternoon and the Welcome Reception in the evening, the Opening Ceremony on June 26, a banquet at Bankoku Shinryokan on June 27, and an excursion to Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium with lunch in a traditional Okinawa house in the afternoon of June 28. Details are online: http://www. jsme.or.jp/env/iwee/2019/ IWEE Venue Bankoku Shinryokan Resort MICE Facility (1792 Kise, Nago City, Okinawa) is located 20 minutes from downtown Nago City by car. Bankoku Shinryokan is known for being the venue of the G8 Summit in Okinawa held in 2000. In an elegant venue such as this, highly praised by various nations leaders, we are confident that this conference will be a memorable experience. The sunset view from the Summit Hall, the venue for our Banquet, is particularly wonderful. You will enjoy the verdant and abundant nature that Okinawa offers together with the view from the courtyard of the sparkling emerald green sea. Furthermore, the venue boasts the beautiful Busena Beach, an underwater observatory, and a facility in which one can experience a glass-bottom boat, just a few minutes walk Bird s eye view of the Bankoku Shinryokan Resort MICE Facility and the Busena peninsula IWEE venue: Entrance of the Bankoku Shinryokan Resort MICE Facility http://www.shinryokan.com/index.jsp
