CONGRATULATIONS on getting your Cub Scout out doors and having a fun adventure! It is important that they focus on what they are doing and not on their phone or IPOD or other electronic device. Please have them leave all that at home. When you arrive: Check-In is from 7:30am-8:30am. Please be sure to arrive on time! Check in at the Parade Field. You will see banners as you walk into the area indicating where to check in. Follow the staff directions to park your car, nose facing the road. Place your Parking Permit on your window, and proceed to check in. (Parking Permit found at the end of this document.) When you check in: Have your Cub s Shooting Sports Permission Slip filled out and ready to turn in. (Permission Slip found at the end of this document.) You will be given wristbands indicating you are part of this special event. / Day Page 2 8
Once checked in: Your scout or sibling will join their den and play games in the field just across from check in until Opening Ceremonies. Opening Ceremonies will start promptly at 9 AM so make sure you are here in enough time to get checked in. Once everyone is assembled for opening ceremonies, the day will begin: Parents/Adults head off to the world of Scouts and Siblings head off for their Den meeting in the. Because you will both be very busy, it will be important to note that lunch and such will be handled in the specific groups. At the end of the day, we will all come together for a great camp fire! First Aid Kit A kit should include a few adhesive bandages, some moleskin (a sticky bandage that you can put over a blister to keep it from getting worse or rubbing), and a bandage or two. Filled water bottle Make sure it is big enough to carry water for you to drink through your whole hike and back. And make sure it is full when you start out! It is not safe to drink water you find along the trail. Flashlight Check your batteries to make sure they have plenty of juice. Your flashlight will be used only in an emergency, so save the batteries for times when you really need them! Trail food Trail mix or a granola bar provides quick energy when you need it. Sun Protection Sunscreen should be SPF 30 or greater. A hat is good to have, too! Whistle It's only for emergencies, but a whistle will last longer than your voice. / Day Page 5 8

Trask Scout Reservation Rules and Regulations: This permit must be on your dash and readable by Camp Staff. PLEASE OBSERVE 15 MPH IN CAMP Drive Safely on ALL camp roads and observe speed limit of 15 MPH. No trailers/rvs in the camping area. Park your vehicle HEAD OUT in case of emergency evacuation. DO NOT PARK OR LEAVE YOUR VEHICLE IN CAMP. Vehicles may enter camp ONLY to load or unload gear. If you park blocking another car, and the ranger or Camp Master cannot find you, it will be necessary to tow your vehicle. No In and Out Parking except for emergencies. Canyon Blvd., Monrovia, CA 91016 Directions to Trask Scout Reservation Take the 210 Freeway to the Mountain Avenue offramp, in Monrovia. Exit at Mountain, and turn north towards the mountains. Follow Mountain up to Foothill Blvd. Turn left on Foothill and follow it to Canyon Blvd. Turn right on Canyon Blvd. Follow Canyon Blvd. up the hill. After crossing Hillcrest Blvd., which has a stop sign, Canyon will fork. Stay on the right fork. There will be signs indicating Trask Scout Reservation and Monrovia Canyon Park. There is a combination lock at the entrance and a second combination lock at the Bridge. The combinations are changed weekly. Please note the combinations above. They are for the week/weekend that you are attending. One more thing the road into camp is paved and has some tight turns. DRIVE CAREFULLY!
