Karen s Chat On the road again...i have had two and one half weeks to recuperate. We are now ready to go back into the RV and visit some more Chapters. In the next six weeks we will spend time with the Willamette Sams, Ready Roamers, 89ers, Spruce Runners, Bridgetown Campers and Rogue River Roosters, besides going to the PowWow and working at the Good Sam Booth at the Sweet Home JAMboree. We had a wonderful visit this morning with Steve Rowland, publisher of the Oregon Northwest Community Connection Magazine. You will hear more from him in the future. I have asked him to be our Keynote Speaker at the OGS Fall Gathering at Hood River Fairgrounds October 7-8 (coming in on the 6th and leaving on the 9th). I came home with 3 little fish from the Catered Dinner table decorations. One died within days but these two are doing very well. Guess they will travel with us in the RV. I have heard of dogs and cats traveling in an RV but never fish. Oh well, here we go. Did you know that Oregon has the fourth largest number of chapters in their state. We come in fourth after Texas (72), Washington (51) and Florida (49). Minnesota is close behind us with 40. The state with the least GSC chapters is North Dakota (0), followed by Delaware (3), Alaska (4) and West Virginia (5). We have sold one of the small white cargo trailers (the TC Trekker flat top) to our daughter Desiree and Rick for $1,500. That was the one we called the Samboree Trailer. We have had a few nibbles on the orange one we called the people mover. No one has asked about the coffee trailer but we will continue talking it up. If you know of anyone who would like a sturdy 5x8 Wells Cargo trailer (no relation) with a rounded roof, send em our way. We will be keeping the sound trailer to haul the Saturday Night Show panels and framing to and from each Rally. Our new 20 Patriot, made by Interstate, is wonderful. We had it completely full coming and going from the Rally a few weeks ago. You will see it again at the Fall Gathering in October. We will give you a tour. A little three year old boy is sitting on the toilet. His mother thinks he has been in there too long so she goes in to see what s up. The little boy is sitting on the toilet reading a book, but about every 10 seconds or so he puts the book down, grips onto the toilet seat with his left hand and hits himself on top of the head with his right hand. His mother says: Billy, are you all right? You ve been in here for a while. Billy says: I m fine, Mommy I just haven t gone doody yet. Mother says, Ok, you can stay here a few more minutes. But, Billy, why are you hitting yourself on the head? Billy says, Works for Ketchup. Getting To Know You Here is another Getting to Know You story. Do you know this person? I was born in Vancouver, Washington. I lived in Ridgefield with my parents and 5 brothers and sisters on a 60-acre dairy farm. I started school in a 2-room school near our home. I graduated from High School in Battle Ground, Washington. I worked for Fred Meyer for 31 years as several SW Portland and Beaverton area stores. My husband and I met when we were sophomores at different schools. We got married in 1960, 56 years ago. We met in a thornless Blackberry patch. We had 3 daughters (lost one in 1990), 6 granddaughters and 7 great-granddaughters. I like to work in the yard and read. I have written in a journal almost every day since we retired, sharing what we do and the happenings of each day. I enjoy traveling. I would like to go to Connecticut to visit our Granddaughter and family. My favorite colors are blue and pink, favorite foods are pies and meatballs and my favorite music is the oldies from 60-80. Who is this? The answer is on page 8 of this Drifter. 5
