In terms of the Edinburgh Local Development Plan ( ELDP ) (adopted November 2016), the site is located within the urban area. The City of Edinburgh Council ( CEC ) expects residential developments consisting of 12 or more units to include provision for affordable housing amounting to 25% of the total number of units proposed.
