It s a chance to give back some of what you have received. Organizations such as this club survive on volunteerism. If you ve had a good time, met some nice friends, broadened your horizons, enhanced your life you already owe a debt to others who have given of their time and of themselves to make it happen. Okay, what do I have to do? The treasurer must balance the checkbook monthly, deposit all money, record all checks issued and money received, and publish a monthly statement in the club newsletter. Knowing how to use Quicken would help, but we can teach you. The complete list of duties can be obtained from any board member or from the GM Website. So, what s in it for me? Free annual membership in the club, a $15- $30 value depending on what we re charging that year. Free get-together once a month with all the pizza you can eat, a $15/month value if you re a big eater. Free admission to all the meetings, a $24 value, and occasionally more free food as well. 20 % discount for any and all activities or trips, worth big bucks if you go to everything, worth about $200 if all you do is go on even one Colorado trip. First chance to run selected activities or trips, some of which are compensated at 50% or even 100%. Free annual dinner at a first-class restaurant. The satisfaction of giving back some of the many blessings which have been given to you. If you take advantage of all of the perks, it s worth close to $2000! The new treasurer will be chosen by ballot this April. We promise an accurate count! If you are interested in running, tell any board member.

Holiday Party and Sing Along The Holiday Party took place Saturday, December 9 th at the Berkley Legion. All attendees enjoyed a catered buffet, open bar, and lots of music both seasonal and not so seasonal. The music was provided by DJ s Sandy & Perry; and there was dancing and karaoke. Seems our club has a few altos and tenors, while some just screamed out their favorite tunes. The lucky ones whose names were drawn also took home the lovely poinsettias that were at each table. Needless to say, everyone had a great time enjoying the festivities and getting into the holiday spirit.

As we move into the 21 st Century, we will find a changing world and new challenges facing each and every one of us. The Club is also moving ahead; and, while there are no immediate changes or overwhelming challenges to face, we will find that we must be prepared to accept what will be and move ahead. I am happy to report that our overall membership is increasing and we are planning many activities throughout 2001 and beyond. I urge each and every one of us to challenge ourselves to make our Club the best it can be. Get involved, participate in the activities, meet and encourage new membership, offer ideas and help.
