La Vieille Fermette Summary A lovely property, 25 minutes from Mont St Michel, sleeping 6/8 people, is situated in a peaceful hamlet in the Ile de Vilaine department of Brittany Description LA VIEILLE FERMETTE is a lovely Farmhouse, sleeping 6/8 people. It is situated in a peaceful hamlet in the Ile de Vilaine department of Brittany, only 25 minutes drive from the UNESCO heritage site of Mont St Michel. It is perfect for a relaxing holiday but also close to many beautiful Brittany towns and within half an hour of the north coast beaches. ACCOMMODATION: The letting gite is to the left of the main picture where you see an arched window. The adjoining accommodation belongs to the owner who spends several weeks a year there. The garden in front of the gite is exclusively for the use of holidaymakers. On entering the farmhouse you are immediately in the open plan living area with corner kitchen, dining table and comfortable seating area. The kitchen is well equipped with crockery and plates and pots and pans and has a gas hob and oven. There is a coffee maker, kettle and toaster. A high chair is available. There is also a new woodburner, installed this year, and very efficient electric ceramic radiators making the accommodation suitable for lets all the year round. A TV with UK channels is provided and WiFi is available throughout the property. UTILITY AREA: This is a small area off the main living area which has a washing machine, fridge, freezer and microwave. There is also a portable table football for use either inside or outside. BEDROOMS:
BEDROOM 1: Sleeps 3, on ground floor, next to living area. This room has a double and single bed and wardrobe. BEDROOMS 2 AND 3: (with ensuite bathroom) A staircase leads up to a Family room (sleeps 3) consisting of a double bed and single bed. This room connects with a further room with a single bed. This makes the accommodation very suitable for family groups. A cot is also available. BATHROOM 1: On the ground floor there is a shower and WC. BATHROOM 2: This is ensuite to the Family Room upstairs. There is a bath, shower and WC. OUTSIDE: A lawned area and outdoor table and chairs, for al fresco dining, is situated immediately outside the farmhouse. A BBQ, chimnea style is provided. Behind the farmhouse is a large area ideal for the children to run off any excess energy! Parking for 3 cars VISITOR SUITABILITY: The farmhouse is perfect for family holidays. Children will enjoy the large garden. Pets are welcome and we can help with your veterinary appointment before your return to the UK. The property is not suitable for wheelchair users or guests with impaired mobility. A 20% discount is offered on Brittany Ferries crossings, per standard car and passenger, representing a substantial saving on your travel costs. Linen is included in the price. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN TOWELS LOCAL AREA: Less than 5 minutes drive is the pretty village of Bazouges la Perouse. Here there is a boulangerie for the essential French bread and pastries, restaurants and a bank. There is also a supermarket. Nearby is L Etang de Boulet which is the largest navigable lake in Ille et Vilaine (150 ha). It offers a wide range of nautical activities including fishing. It is a recognized area of national ecological interest and contains several protected animal and plant species. The lake is surrounded by forests where walking and horse riding is popular. Also close is the Foret de Ville Cartier which is dedicated to leisure activities and nature enthusiasts. Miles of walking and biking trails bring you deep into the forest, around the lake and through the valleys. There is also Accrobranching here. Many lovely towns and cities are within easy reach of the property. These include, Mont St Michel, 25 minutes drive. This is the most visited tourist attraction in France and is an essential part of your holiday agenda! The beautiful city of Fougeres is only 35 km away from the Farmhouse. Here there is stunning chateau. Dinan, 41 kms away, is also well worth a visit with its beautiful architecture and numerous restaurants and shops. At the walled town city of Saint Malo, 52 kms away, (also one of the ferry ports served by UK crossings) you can take a guided walking tour or simply soak up the atmosphere. Just over an hour is Moncontour, a French "petite cite de caractere". A medieval festival is held every year. THE BRITTANY REGION: Brittany offers a wealth of varied landscapes - beautiful sandy beaches, deep forests and medieval towns. Brittany is easily accessible from the UK via several Ferry Ports and is also served by flights from the UK to 4 French airports. From spectacular beaches with rugged coastlines to vast sandy expanses, to peaceful woods and forests and the famous Nantes-Brest Canal, Brittany has all the makings of a perfect holiday. The cuisine in the area includes crepes and galettes and of course the seafood! Mussels and oysters are available throughout the region, particularly in the summer months. Cider is produced here and local varieties are available in all supermarkets and restaurants. During the summer numerous villages and town celebrate the "Pardon" which is predominantly a religious thanksgiving but is always followed by a celebratory meal (with a drink or two!) and Breton dancing.
