While traveling westbound on West South Boundary I observed a vehicle traveling east on W. South Boundary. I then observed a second car a maroon Chevy Impala (OH-FOU5379) traveling behind the first one at what appeared to be exceeding the posted speed limit of 25 miles per hour. The Impala appeared to be quickly closing the distance between it and the first vehicle. I activated RADAR unit XE25116 in the moving mode and determined the speed of the first car to be 25 miles per hour. Using the fastest mode it displayed the speed of the Impala at 40 miles per hour. I passed the first car and again checked the radar for the Impala as we were the only two vehicles at that time. The radar unit displayed a speed of 41 miles per hour and then again at 42 miles per hour with a corresponding audio tone. I locked it in at that speed. I activated my overhead lights and initiated a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Monique McKee. She stated she did not know how fast she was going or the speed limit for the road. McKee was issued a citation for Speed- ORC 4511.21B2 (MM) and given a court date of Friday August 17th at 8:45am.
