His research expertise is centered principally on tourism public policy and planning, with particular reference to the use of tourism as a regional development mechanism by all levels of government. DOC is a government department responsible for the conservation of New Zealand s natural and historical heritage. Their vision is to ensure that the New Zealand people gain the benefits associated with healthy functioning ecosystems, recreation opportunities, and living their history. DOC s work is organised around five outcomes: 1. The diversity of New Zealand s natural heritage is maintained and restored. 2. New Zealand s history is protected and brought to life. 3. More people participate in recreation. 4. More people engage with conservation and value its benefits. 5. Conservation gains from more business partnerships.
