THERMOGRAM October 2016 Volume LI Issue 03 Main: ASHRAE Headquarters Renovation www.ashrae-balto.org Tech Session: Energy Modeling...Why? ASHRAE October 6th MEETING: Tech Session: 5:00 pm 5:45 pm Network Hour: 5:30 pm 6:30 pm Main Meeting: ASHRAE Headquarters Renovation Speaker: Ron Jarnagin ASHRAE Society President, 2011-2012 What Happens When The Leaders Try To Do It Right? Dinner: 6:30 pm 7:00 pm Main Speaker: 7:00 pm 8:15 pm When ASHRAE decided to renovate their aging headquarters building it was faced with the challenge of trying to live up to their reputation as a leader in the built environment. There were many opinions about what should be done and a small committee was formed to serve as the owner s representatives to oversee the renovation. This presentation will focus on the process we followed, what we decided and why, what went wrong and what went right, lessons learned, actual costs of the project and actual measured energy savings achieved. You will find this presentation both entertaining and educational! Tech Session: Energy Modeling...Why? Speaker: Chet Knauf, Energy Engineering Leader at Havtech This presentation will include a short overview of energy modeling, then move into the following area: Discuss four factors that are driving the energy efficiency revolution. Provide insight into how to leverage those factors to win projects, showcase knowledge and create a healthier environment. Provide insight on the complexities of energy models. Discuss variations between rebate, ROI and LEED models. The October meeting will take place at the Engineers Club. 11 West Mount Vernon Place Baltimore, MD 21201
