STAUFF SPECIALIST HIGH PRESSURE HOSES www.stauff.co.uk OFFICIAL DISTRIBUTOR FOR SCOTLAND 1 & IRELAND
Extreme High Pressure Thermoplastic Hoses Supply and Support Stauff UK Ltd are part of the international Walter Stauffenberg group and are appointed exclusive Authorised Distributors for the SPIR STAR range of extreme high pressure hoses in the following areas: Scotland: serviced by Stauff Aberdeen Ireland: serviced by Stauff Ireland We are committed to the supply and support of this high performance product in these areas, as part of the global supply network operated by SPIR STAR. The SPIR STAR product line was born because standard thermoplastic hoses did not meet the requirements of many customers needs in respect of pressure, temperature, chemical resistance, permeation, weight and volumetric expansion. The resultant product development provided the following crucial features: Extremely high working pressures Excellent chemical resistance to almost all chemicals, detergents and solvents Up to 50% saving of weight with regard to comparable rubber hoses Resistant to ozone, ultraviolet light and ageing Outer cover is resistant to hydrolysis and microbes High resistance to abrasion of the outer cover Small bend radius at high volumes of flow Low volumetric expansion at maximum working pressure Low permeation rate M, PPA and HG Series e.g. methanol High temperature stability (HT and F series up to 150/200 C, 392 F) Kink resistant Minimal pressure drop Resistant to sea water High impulse resistance and long service life Long lengths can be delivered ABERDEEN tel: 01224 786166 IRELAND tel: 02892 606900

Applications for these super high pressure, quality hose include: Automotive For years, the Automotive Industry has been relying on adhesives in the assembly process. SPIR STAR s Series-F hoses are the perfect solution for transferring bulk adhesives in automobile (and other) plants for glue application. The inner cores of these hoses are made of PTFE and are able to withstand temperatures up to 200 C/392 F with working pressures of up to 500 bar / 7251 psi. Water Blasting Developed especially for concrete removal, sewer cleaning, water jet cutting, pipe cleaning, heat exchanger tube cleaning, and surface preparation as well as the removal of a multitude of deposits. Oil and Gas SPIR STAR products are being used successfully for projects from the North Sea to the Gulf of Mexico, for example offshore hose bundles, methanol service on platforms, chemical injections at the well hole and hydraulic component control. High Pressure Hydraulics Engineered to withstand working pressures up to 3200 bar while retaining superior flexibility. Some of the areas of application include autofrettage, hydroforming, hydraulic assembly presses, dismantling of roller bearings, rescue tools and torsion-free pulling of screw connections (bolt tensioning). www.stauff.co.uk 3

It is essential to follow correct Care and Use of High Pressure Hose guidelines The following are priority lists of Do s & Don ts for safety practices when using high pressure hose. r DON T r a DO a Be Safe Replace! r Use a hose with cuts or wire showing through the outer cover. r Use a hose that has been kinked. r Use a hose that has bubbles or blisters in the outer cover. r Exceed the bend radius and pressure rating for each hose. r Run over or crush the hose with heavy vehicles. r Use a hose with corroded or leaking end connections. atreat high pressure hose with extreme caution. SPIR STAR hoses are wire reinforced hoses with a thermoplastic inner core and should be treated with the same care as a high pressure containment vessel. awhen using hoses for water-jetting, read and understand recommended practices as laid down by the Water Jetting Association - see The Blue Code of Practice (www.waterjetting.org.uk) Take it out of service immediately. aalways visually inspect for frayed, damaged or wear spots before using. r Use hoses that have been exposed to chemical attack or exceptional temperature. r Use dirty water or water with sulphur compounds in it. Tests have documented that hoses fail more rapidly when using water sources from chemical plants and refineries. acheck the hose end connections and threads for wear, rust, cracks, mechanical abuse or other deterioration that could produce a dangerous projectile. aknow the working pressures and burst pressures of all hoses before using them. r Bend the hose over scaffolding or pull heavy equipment with the hose. aalways use clean, filtered water to prolong hose life. Do not use water that is high in sulphur because sulphur may attack stainless steel. r Let the hose support its own weight off towers or buildings. aalways clean, drain and coil hoses after use. Soap and water usually provide an excellent cleaning agent. r Mechanically rotate the hose without a slipclutch cover r Expect water jetting or hydraulic hose to last forever. aalways wear protective gloves, eyewear and garments when handling high pressure hose and water jet lances. www.stauff.co.uk 7
Testing & Cleanliness Stauff UK operate extensive testing facilities both in Aberdeen and the Hose and Tube Technology Centre in Sheffield. These facilities meet the most demanding customer requirements as well as the parameters laid down by SPIR STAR when appointing Authorised Distributors. Testing The controlled environment test room, is equipped with the only rigs of their kind operating in the UK. Capable of testing to 5000 bar with: Variable pressure Ageing Cycling and impulse Burst programmes All can be controlled remotely from the production office and the completed work maintained as part of the quality management system. Recording Automatic recording and certification is produced in PDF format reflecting the full factual activity of the chosen programme. 8 ABERDEEN tel: 01224 786166 IRELAND tel: 02892 606900
