Next Meeting: July 10, 10:30AM at BMW of Detroit Following Meeting: August 14 at BMW of Detroit Web site: www.bizblvd.net/mcbeemers THE PREZ SEZ President John Saarinen Jsaarinen@peoplepc.com 1st Vice President Jerry Pokorski Pokorskij@Yahoo.com 2nd Vice President Tim Perry tpbeemer@gmail.com Treasurer Allen Gigliotti giglioa@comcast.net Newsletter Editor Bob Hann hannbob@yahoo.com Web Master Ives R. Potrafka ives@bizblvd.net This riding season has had its share of rain but has not dampened the spirits of our club members. The turnout at the monthly rides has been at an all time high. The Frankenmuth ride was an unparalleled success. I however have not exactly been burning up the roads. Last year I was the fourth highest for mileage in Michigan in the MOA mileage contest. Dick Hautau a fellow member was #3. Dick is out there riding hard to beat last year...my bike is getting a well deserved rest. This summer has required a lot of time for my mom. I still hope to get out there and see some of this great country before the season winds down. Don't waste a great year...get out there and ride! Riding is fun, John Saarinen 1

CLUB EVENTS JUNE 12th RIDE TO OSCAR & JOEY'S ROAD HOUSE, BIRCH RUN Maury Feuerman picked a nice restaurant and a great route for our June clubs ride. It was all by back roads and avoided the construction, which is pretty hard to do around Michigan. This was a new restaurant for us. The food was good and the wait staff was pleasant. After lunch we broke up and headed home...or where ever. It was very close to the outlet malls and I stopped to buy a pair of shoes. On the way home we stopped at Cook's Dairy found a few club members already there enjoying the ice cream. Cook's raises their own cows, sells their own milk, and makes their own ice cream...you have to try their cow pie! FRANKENMUTH 2010 ANNUAL DINNER RIDE, SATURDAY, JUNE 19 TH The Annual Frankenmuth Dinner ride went off without a hitch. We were threatened with rain, which didn t materialize. Nineteen riders and passengers showed up at the Beemership for the ride to the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth, Michigan. They broke up into 3 smaller groups and headed north. Two riders met Jerry Pokorski's group at 32 Mile and Mound. Jerry picked a great route. Plenty of open country and very little traffic. When we got to the Bavarian Inn there Oops, Sorry Tim! were three other members/guests waiting for us at our table. The restaurant set up a long table for 24 in an unused dining room. It was nice having a room to ourselves where we could act up if desired. The food and camaraderie were great. The ride organizer, Jerry Pokorski (pokorskij@yahoo.com) did a fantastic job of setting up ride and dinner. Please thank him for his efforts. 2

DAVE CRONBERGER MOVES TO RALEIGH, NC, BOB HANN IS NEW EDITOR Dave and Mary Cronberger are moving to Raleigh, North Carolina for his company. We will miss their smiling faces and all of the support they provided to the club with Dave being the newsletter. We wish them the best that life can offer. We know they will enjoy the 12 month riding season in Raleigh and they won t be far from the Appalachians Mountains and the twisty roads they provide. Bob Hann has stepped forward to be the new newsletter editor. This newsletter shows that the editor s position has been passed on to very capable hands. When you see Bob at the next meeting thank him for taking over the position and for doing such a good job on the newsletter. HELP SUPPORT OUR JUNE FRANKENMUTH CHICKEN RUN! The club got a pretty good discount this year on the Bavarian Inn chicken dinners. Last year I bought a membership in the Bavarian Inn Rewards program. We used it at last year s dinner and every time Sharon and I went to the Bavarian Inn over the last year. The reward points were used to get the club $40 off the dinner and an additional $100 worth of coupons towards the bill. Savings like these will allow us to continue to put on the Bavarian Inn Chicken Dinner. We are asking anyone who is going to Bavarian Inn between now and next June to borrow the rewards card from us and use it when they pay for dinner. This will help us accumulate even more coupons towards the clubs dinner. You can contact me, John Saarinen, by e-mail (jsaarinen@peoplepc.com) or call at 586-677-3234. CLUB STEAK PICNIC SEPTEMBER 18 th The club picnic has been moved to Fort Gratiot Park. It is located north of Port Huron, on Lake Huron. This location will provide a little longer ride than in years past. It also has a swimming beach. As in prior years the club will supply the steaks for members and associate members. Guests will need to pay $15 for any additional steaks. If bringing children that will not be eating steaks, please bring whatever you want them to eat. There will be open grill space. Attendees should contact Jerry Pokorski (pokorskij@yahoo.com) to reserve a steak. All reservations need to be in by September 4th. Club Rides JULY 10th CLUB RIDE TO ZUKEY LAKE Maury Feuerman has another great restaurant and route picked for us. Come on out to the lake next month and check out this restaurant with good food and view of Zukey Lake. I don't know how he finds all these places but he is a wealth of knowledge. He has done a fantastic job on planning routes and I know everyone who has gone on one of his rides has had a great time. Come on out and enjoy the ride! OPENINGS FOR MONTHLY CLUB RIDES We still have three meetings; August, October and November, where no one has volunteered to organize a ride. If you have a restaurant that you like to visit because of its food or ambiance, tell us its name and location. You don t have to lead the ride but it would be 3

helpful if you know a fun route to get there. For the ride; tell us a little bit about the restaurant and provide a route to follow at least a week before the meeting. It can be as simple as a list of turn points or as complicated as a MapQuest map. Bring at least 5 or 6 copies so we can pick ride leaders and break up into smaller groups at the meeting. We would all enjoy going to new places and in most cases to the same old places. Come on out and help make the club rides the best they can be. Rides MOA RALLY REDMOND, OREGON JULY 15-18, 2010 The BMW MOA rally is going to be in Redmond, Oregon. It is a long haul (about 2,400 miles) but would provide a good base of operations to ride the Pacific North West. Some members have posted their ride schedule to get out there. Check for details on our website. FRIED BALOGNA FESTIVAL IN YALE, MICHIGAN, JULY 23-25. Yale used to be the bologna capital of the U.S. They made most of the bologna used in America. Check out their website "Yale Bologna Festival". Their motto is "Full of Bologna and Proud of it". It is truly small town Americana at its best. Saturday is particularly fun because they have the children s water gun fight. All of the children interested get to bring squirt guns and face off against Yale's volunteer fire department in a one hour no holds barred water gun fight. No one stays dry including most of the people watching. They have acts performing almost continuously. Check them out it is really worth the ride! RA RALLY POWNAL, VERMONT JULY 29-AUGUST 1, 2010 The BMW RA rally is going to be in Pownal, VT. Vermont is a very beautiful state that has plenty of good roads to ride. It is a short hop, skip and a jump to get to Mount Washington and Maine. It would provide a good location from which to ride out and see the north east. Anyone going to this rally should post details on our website. Training On Saturday July 24 2010 Alpha Training is planning to hold a BMW only session at their facility in Lansing. Alpha Training Center, LLC PO Box 121, DeWitt, Michigan 48820 (517) 896-9551 (office) -- http://www.alphatrainingcenter.com/ http://www.totalcontroltraining.net/ MOTOR CITY BEEMERS NAME TAGS Motor City Beemer name tags are available for purchase at Highest Honor, Inc.
