In-situ vision of the Ostrava Zoo 1. Philosophy of modern ZOOs is not only ex-situ, but especially in-situ species conservation, i.e. in the place of their natural range. 2. We want to be modern institution which points to the trend of the modern zoos. 3. We want to be one of the exemplary modern zoos in Europe / World. 4. Really make a difference and help to protect animals.

Historical milestones of 2015 1. Part of the collection declared by the Ostrava Zoo was used to support a research on elephant diseases. The research is realized by Berlin Leibniz Research Institute for Animal Research (IZW). 2. World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) entrusted leadership of International Studbook of Vietnamese sika deer to the Ostrava Zoo. 3. Approval of the project 1 CZK for Wildlife!
