Welcome We welcome you to our elegant Georgian guest house conveniently situated on the eastern side of the city of Bath, a UNESCO World Heritage City. Set within its own grounds between Solsbury Hill and the River Avon, and within two miles of the city centre (just a five minute drive), it has fifteen en suite bedrooms, five of which offer four poster beds, making Bailbrook Lodge the only guest house or hotel in Bath to offer such a facility. This Parisian style Brasserie is ideal for both lunch and dinner with an emphasis on informal dining and is renowned for the quality of its steaks, sourced locally from the highly regarded Church Farm at Broughton Gifford. With menus ranging from superb value fixed price through to à la Carte they also include a number of French dishes in addition to our chef s daily specialities and we are happy to arrange a reservation for you. Adjacent to Brasserie Brunel is the stylish 1846 Bar; a relaxing rendezvous for a quiet drink, a light lunch, a delicious sandwich or simply your choice of fresh coffees and pastries. Recreation Public tennis courts are within easy walking distance and you have the choice of a number of excellent golf courses nearby catering for all abilities. For the more adventurous there are numerous local activities from horse riding to clay pigeon shooting. If you would rather not get back in the car you can enjoy an easy walk by the pretty Kennet & Avon canal with its decorative boats at nearby Bathampton or take a more challenging route to the top of Solsbury Hill where commanding views of Bath and the surrounding area are your reward. Bath Bath is without doubt one of Britain s, if not Europe s, most beautiful and historically intriguing cities. Ideally situated in the lush Avon valley in the rich rolling downs between the Cotswolds and Mendip Hills, the city has been celebrated for centuries for its idyllic atmosphere. Through the ages writers and artists alike have gathered here for their inspiration; Charles Dickens, Jane Austen and Thomas Gainsborough have all sung the praises of the city s calm and leisurely air. Bath s natural thermal springs, rich in minerals and plentiful in supply, inspired the Romans to build magnificent temples and grand bath houses. The splendid Georgian period transformed Bath into one of the most famous cities in Europe. Architects such as Beau Nash, John Bennett and John Wood built neoclassical parades, squares and crescents from the renowned Bath stone.
