2019 Drumlin Farm Camp Discover. Explore. Be Outside.

Welcome to Drumlin Farm Camp! We inspire campers ages 4 17 to explore local habitats while connecting them to the joys and wonders of the natural landscape a tradition we ve maintained since 1956. Campers learn about nature, farming, and where the two intersect, through outdoor exploration. Our goal is to inspire a lifelong connection between campers and the land. Camp activities are carefully planned to meet this goal while creating memorable and joyous experiences. At the heart of our camp program are three leading concepts. Community We create a welcoming, supportive community in which campers feel free to try new things, make friends, and learn to respect one another and their surroundings. Interdependence We emphasize the interdependence of all living things. Campers learn about natural cycles, and the interconnectedness of people, agriculture, wildlife, and habitats. Stewardship Campers learn to take responsibility for their world through sustainable farming and conservation of wild spaces. Counselors-in-Training Entering Grades 9 12 12 THE PROGRAM Foster leadership development by working alongside our counselors and share your love and knowledge of nature with younger campers. Each session you ll be assigned an age group to work with for the full one to two weeks, enabling you to develop bonds with campers and assist with camp programming. Daily meetings will give Counselors-in-Training (CITs) a chance to create a community, share experiences, develop job skills, and learn more about nature and agriculture. Ongoing feedback from our staff will help you find and develop your individual teaching and leadership styles as you create new lessons and assist with games, songs, crafts, and wacky camp fun. CAMP SPIRIT CITs play an important role in our camp community, participating in our all-camp gatherings and running the all-camp, ever-popular Predator/Prey game. Learn how to form a positive community and break down the social barriers you encounter outside of camp. CIT TRAINING In order for our CITs to have the fullest experience, we host a mandatory training June 27 28. During that training, we ll learn about child development, safety, and best practices for working at camp. Camp staff will support the training and offer mentorship to CITs to supplement their development. Plus, a CIT campfire and s mores! COMMITMENT A two-session commitment is required to participate. Program fee includes two sessions, and additional sessions may be attended at no charge. CIT sessions align with our three, two-week Nature Camp sessions, plus an extra one-week session during Farm Mania 2, August 12 16.

Meet Our Camp Staff CAMP STAFF Our camp staff comprises dedicated and mature educators, naturalists, and college students who are looking for more than "just a summer job." They have experience working with youth, knowledge of (and a passion for) nature and farming, and a deep commitment to sharing that connection with children. Many of our counselors are camp alumni who help foster a shared love of our sanctuary and belief that it is a special place where magical things happen. Our tightknit staff community creates a more cohesive and enjoyable experience for our campers. It s easier to pass on a smile when you have one yourself! Email your cover letter, resume, and three references to drumlinfarmcamp@ massaudubon.org! TRAINING From day one, we foster a sense of community and compassion amongst our counselors. Each counselor brings something unique and valuable to the camp experience, and by nurturing their varying teaching styles and ideas, we enrich our camp, year after year. Counselors are trained in child development and supervision, health and safety procedures, natural history, farm animal care, and environmental education best practices. All are CPR and firstaid certified and have undergone background and reference checks. In addition, we have a licensed nurse at Drumlin Farm, access to an on-call doctor, and EMS services within three miles. WORK WITH US! 13
