Fundraising When you join us on the adventure of a lifetime, your team will need to raise a minimum of 1,000 for the Parenta Trust which will be used to build a pre-school in Uganda. To date, we have funded the construction of four nursery schools, and comissioned a fifth, from proceeds from previous rallys. We ask that your minimum sponsorship is completed before we leave for the rally. Any money raised via Just Giving is automatically transferred to our account. If you decide to collect by other means, there will be a cut off date this will need to be paid by. We request a deposit of 100 when you sign up to the event, this will also go towards your fundraising total. The Journey We will leave from Parenta's head office in Maidstone on Wednesday 27th June 2018, embarking on the first leg of our journey which will see us set our sat nav's for Dover where we catch a ferry and set sail to the next destination. In total we will venture through 8 countries, experiencing the scenery of the Alps and winding roads of the Furka Pass before reaching our destination of Monaco. Each morning, you will be given the address of the campsite we are staying in that night, and a daily challenge to complete en route. You'll also get a route guide, which you can follow or choose to ignore. We encourage teams to travel in convoy, and it is important to remember above all that this is not a race! When we reach Monaco we'll spend one final night in a hotel, before embarking on the homeward journey.
Camping Each night we stay at a different campsite, we have visited each campsite before and all have good shower and toilet facilities. We also negotiate the best rates possible for each night, but estimate a budget of around 15 per person, per night. You should make sure you take sufficient food and drink with you (maybe something other than wine and beer!) and anything else you may need for your stay. It's also important to make sure you have plenty of warm clothing, it does get cold at night, especially when we are in the Alps.
What s it all for? Parenta Trust aims to support young children in East Africa by providing them with a quality pre-school education. Our charity has the support, passion and driving-force of some remarkable people who are united in the belief that all children deserve to have a basic education, no matter where they are in the world. By creating the Parenta Trust, our trustees have taken the first steps to realise their vision of a world where all children feel safe, loved and cared for. To date, we've built 4 pre-schools and commissioned our fifth, giving over 800 orphaned and underprivileged children the opportunity to gain an education, with much of the funding raised through our previous rally's. With your support, we aim to build a total of 10 schools over the coming years.
