The International Ski Federation (FIS), together with the National Ski Associations of Germany and Italy, take pleasure in inviting all FIS Member Associations to participate in the VIESSMANN FIS TOUR DE SKI PERFORMANCE BY CRAFT SPORTSWEAR 2010/11 organized as part of the Viessmann FIS World Cup Cross-Country in Oberhof (GER), Oberstdorf (GER), Toblach (ITA) & Val di Fiemme (ITA) from December 31 st 2010 to January 9th 2011.
WELCOME On behalf of the FIS Cross-Country Committee, I am pleased to welcome you to the fifth edition of the Viessmann FIS Tour de Ski performance by Craft Sportswear. Five years ago the FIS president blessed this new Cross-Country competition by saying that it is a small baby that will hopefully develop to become an annual season highlight. Since that time, the baby has developed through small improvements and changes every year based on inputs from all stakeholders involved. Today, five years after its implementation, the event attracts almost the same amount of TV viewers as all the rest of the World Cup, and the final climb up to Alpe Cermis in Val di Fiemme is the most seen Cross-Country race throughout the season. Small but important improvements that have been made for the upcoming season include that athletes will also get bonus points by winning sprints in handicap start competitions and the organizers in Val di Fiemme are planning a public race up the steep climbs to Alpe Cermis. Last year s popular newcomer, the 30 km long mass start that follows the historical trail from Cortina to Toblach will also be held next year. I look forward to this year s version that will hopefully result in even more money invested in TV production. A special welcome is extended to Oberstdorf, the traditional Cross-Country resort that has not been involved in the Tour since the first edition in 2006/2007. I am really happy for its return. It is very important that we regularly return to traditional World Championships resorts with optimal courses and an experienced audience. Without doubt, the five-year-old baby has grown into the major event we dreamed off. I am convinced that this year s edition will again take us a step further. I wish you all a warm welcome and much success on the Tour and look forward to seeing you on the top of Alpe Cermis! Vegard Ulvang Chairman of the FIS Cross-Country Committee

ACCREDITATION FOR ATHLETES, TEAMS AND THEIR VEHICLES As a pilot project within FIS, Cross-Country will be the first discipline to have a valid FIS Season Accreditation for the entire World Cup season 2010/2011. Last year, there was only a valid FIS Season Accreditation for the Tour de Ski. This season the system will be developed further and there will be one accreditation that is valid for your team staff from the start of the season through to the end. For the athletes, the athletes bib will replace the accreditation from this season onwards. The same will be with the registration. For all the World Cup Events, all teams will be able to make their hotel bookings and the final team entry online using the same successful system that was tested during the Tour de Ski. Both FIS and the Cross-Country department believe that this system will ensure more efficiency in our planning and event organization. As the FIS Accreditation will be the valid accreditation for the entire Tour, please make sure that all your team staff have the FIS season accreditation 2010/2011! To obtain a FIS season Accreditation please submit a request to FIS by the 30th of September through your National Ski Federation. In order to avoid additional work for yourselves and the local OC please make sure you bring the FIS Accreditation for all your staff to the World Cup events starting with Gällivare. In the event that your staff forgets the FIS Season accreditation, the OC has the right to charge for a local accreditation. For accredited team vehicles Tour de Ski Parking Access Cards will be provided in Davos and La Clusaz at the Team Captain meetings These are also valid at all Stages from Oberhof to Val di Fiemme. Note: Special restrictions apply for access to the top of the Final Climb on January 9 th in Val di Fiemme. Access cards to Alpe Cermis will be distributed at the Team Captains Meeting there.
TEAM BIG BIBS The big bibs for athletes, coaches, service and industry distributed at the beginning of the season also apply to the Tour de Ski and must be worn. Athletes bibs will serve throughout the whole season as athletes accreditation. No accreditation cards will be issued to athletes.
