Introduction: Quiz last night Feedback: 73 people in attendance / 310 raised Anne has got the money. Timings be precise in future! o Paulus made error put 6:30pm on event invite. o Some patrons complained the Quiz interfered the rugby/football tv experience (we thought Children in need would have clashed evening) IN FUTURE look for clashes or sporting events/children in Need etc. Mic/Amp bit a of a challenge trying to reach everyone ears 5 of teams near front could hear. 310 donated by all the teams (some people buying 5 of raffle strips helped a lot) Anne has got the money. Neil put on a brilliant effort organising/being quiz master. We really hope this can be a yearly thing every November (yet no pressure!) MASSIVE THANKS TO Neil & Julia for being quiz master, and creating lovely raffle prizes. Additional thanks to Danny & co from Crwys Pub for hosting the community event Cathays Calendar: Possibly 100 to print costing 4-50p each (as mentioned last night) yet committee think 5 is a fair price to pay for the calendar. Feedback to Anne - 5-00p is fair price for the Cathays Calendar. Note Paulus Celyn is NOT a pupil at St Monica s Abi, Bev and Joanne; have annotated the rough calendar. Minimise part of writing Create space so calendar buyer can write on the actual calendars. A quote on calendar all funds raised from this calendar will go into future Cathays community events. IF ready for Thursday 6 th Abi & School can set up a table to sell the calendars there and then.

December set up: Procurement tasks: Lights to be sorted by Dinas Computers Compass will pay for new batteries o Adding lights to; Lights to go up on tree Lights to go up on wall (Wyn/Phillip to staple them on) Possibly a 2 nd Xmas Tree to be placed on library grounds Tree details to chase up o Where will tree come from? Who is buying it? Confirm with Anne. Is Anne happy to defer responsibility to Joanne? What is budget available? Is it 1 or 2 trees? o Joanne wishes to sort out picking up tree (yet Stan who helped out last year is retiring this month so difficult to predict if Stan can help out this year) o Building services may be involved with delivery There will be a council charge for this o IF A 2 ND TREE GOES IN MUST BE ERECTED BY COUNCIL STAFF Contact Cllr Weaver or Cllr Merry to sort this out. Joanne to liaise with Katherine o Trees to be put in/delivered by Monday 3 rd December It will take a day to set up/decorate/put lights in Where will concrete slabs come from? Street decorations o Anne may design a few of the contributions o Children s artwork can this be done Abi to lead on children work AND LAMINATING TOO (thank you!!) Get confirmation/permission of Anne to get the children s artwork laminated. Keep the tree simple lights on it (decorations not an absolute essential) as mainly it will be dark by 4pm the lighting will be the main attraction. Possibly laminated deco-borbels created by children. Banners o The event will be called Cathays Christmas Carols or Christmas in Cathays o Both Thursday 6 th and Saturday 8 th just put start times down!!! Putting it all up: o Wyn, Phillip, Anne, Paulus and others to put it up.

Thursday, 6 th December Children Light up Cathays. The Children Light Up Cathays will have St Monica s pupils singing outside the school on Pentyrch Street to the parents and wider community. Father Christmas has been booked o There will be a Santa s Grotto o Deliver your letters to Father Christmas will receive the letters off children All 3 primary schools will be present Carol sheets Abi to sort children s carol sheets Tea urn (parents can) to be supplied by either Bev, Neil or Julie. o Tea coffee / mince pies The school can receive donations for this. PACKING UP: The school would benefit from a few people helping to pack up.

Saturday, 8 th December Cathays Christmas Community Carols Lee Jones ask him about sanitation clean up before the evenings carols. MUST ENSURE that Salvation Army Emergency Van can get onto site. 1. Paulus to speak with PC Andrew Gardiner 2. Capt Bev to put polite notices on cars the day or two before. Line up for the evening: Ask Bob Morse he knows musicians o Need a 6pm til 6:30pm 6:30pm 7pm Cathays Brass 7pm-7:30pm Cathays Methodist Church 7:30pm everyone else singing carols (Martin s) o Bev may possibly volunteer hubby to play his Euphonium Ask Bud can anyone from Cathays Community Centre To play from 6pm 6:30pm Salvation Emergency Vehicle to arrive by 4pm-4:30pm (not to rush) 1. Must be on for an hour for generator to warm up by 6pm Do Police need to be involved to keep access point clear? PACKING UP: We will help out with tidy up at end.

End of winter/early 2019 social: Joanne raised planning for Games night 8 th February Venue: Salvation Army Time: 6:30pm open doors / Games begin at 7pm Aim for 8pm ish finish No entry fee there will be a donations tin! Little fund raiser to get next few events off the ground. CostCo Joanne has an account with them. People who show up can bring cakes and other stuff for the evenings event. Also a good excuse to Paulus to do FB event wait til after carols all done. Spring 2019 event: Cathays in bloom is a little too adventurous for spring 2019. To be discussed in mid-2019 for 2020 biodiversity project possibly in collaboration with Keep Cathays Tidy. However the Planting Cathays will go ahead the volunteers from families/faith groups etc are there - we just need the physical resources (many 100 s assorted plant pots, decent strength spades etc) and we can begin lacing parts of Cathays with wildflowers in Spring/Summer 2019! AOB: Funding we are looking at options which possible funds. Multiple projects are being discussed by the families (alley clean up etc) improving appearance of overall area. December meeting: Monday, 10 th November (Woodville Baptist Church) 7pm Paulus ask Chris is we can use venue. Saturday 19 th January 2019 (The Table) 2pm Abi wishes to begin discussion of Cathays Fair 2019 for June.
