A 15-minute walk along the canal (or a shorter cycle ride) takes you into the ancient medieval town of Aigues Mortes with its impressive ancient walls protecting streets full of medieval houses, excellent restaurants, bars and shops. But it doesn t end there. The beautiful Camargue Nature Reserve with its white horses, black bulls and flamingos is literally on the doorstep. This areas stunning beaches are all also nearby, including the sublime Plage de L Espiguette, renowned for its dunes, crystal clear waters and preserved natural beauty and less than 20 minutes away. Grau du Roi beach is just a 10- minute drive away or a 25-minute bike ride along the cycle track and La Grande Motte is also nearby. There are plenty of cycling trails from Aigues Mortes down to the beach and inland alongside the canals and watersports and river activities are a-plenty. The beautiful town of Nîmes, with its impressive Roman ruins is only 45 minutes away and is also easily reached by train. Likewise Montpellier nearby, as well as Arles, famous for its ancient Roman amphitheatre. A day trip to Carcassonne or Avignon are also recommended as well as a meander through the local wineries. La Marina is in a private, gated residence and it backs onto the canal where its lovely south west facing sundeck with little salt water pool enjoys the sunshine and waterside views. This is the perfect spot for cooking on the barbecue, eating alfresco and relaxing on a sun-lounger whilst sipping local rosé. The swimming pool even has jet streams if you need to try and work off the local food!
