Market Background/Overview Singapore Market Overview NSW received 108,000 overnight visitors in YE 2012, a 25% increase to YE2011. Holiday makers make up 41% of total overnight visitors and forms the largest purpose of travel (increase of 47%) Airline capacity to Sydney, NSW Singapore Airlines (28x weekly to Sydney), Qantas Airways (14x weekly to Sydney), British Airways (7x weekly to Sydney), Scoot (7x weekly to Sydney) Singapore market has one of the highest expenditure per night - A$176, a 42% increase over the past 5 years. A mature market, with 77% repeat visitors. There is an increase in first time travellers, attributed to low cost carriers and increased competition creating affordable airfares. Market is primarily FIT driven, with group travel confined to school holiday season, or special interest groups (e.g. food and wine, celebrity led ) Consumer travel fairs organised by the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore Travel Fair (NATAS) and other travel agencies are key windows of opportunities to drive customer acquisition. The next NATAS event will be held on 16-18 August 2013. Overview of NATAS Travel Fair: o A bi-annual event (1 st event in February, 2 nd event in August), organised by NATAS o It is Singapore s largest 3 day consumer travel fair, attracting more than 110,000 visitors per year. (Each event attracts approximately 60,000 to 65,000 visitors) o Total of 158 exhibitors under one roof, including airlines, travel agents, NTOs, car rental companies, credit card companies and travel-related services (e.g. insurance etc) o A platform where airlines and agents will present their best deals, and where consumer s propensity to book is the highest. Malaysia Market Overview NSW received 67,000 overnight visitors in 2012, a 40% increase over 2011. Holiday makers make up 43% of total overnight visitors. NSW received 1.5 mil visitor nights in YE2012, a 45.2% increase to YE2011. Airline capacity to Sydney, NSW Singapore Airlines (28x weekly to Sydney via Singapore), Malaysia Airlines (14 weekly to Sydney), AirAsia X (11x weekly to Sydney) A relatively mature market, with 67% repeat visitors. A multi-ethnic, multi-religious society comprising a majority of Muslim population. Bumi market (the Malay community) has seen an increase in the upcoming middle class Malays, who are now more willing to explore travel. Coach travel is the preferred mode of travel, although self drive holidays is gaining in popularity for the more experienced FIT travelers, especially the DINKS/ Singles segment. Group travel to Australia remains consistent, with high booking volumes during the festive holidays (Chinese New Year Jan/Feb, Hari Raya and Christmas), long weekends and school holidays. Consumer travel fairs organised by the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) are key windows of opportunities to drive customer acquisition. The next MATTA Travel Fair will be held on 6-8 September 2013. The Destination NSW South East Asia Trade Mission 2013 will cover Singapore and Malaysia. The event will allow NSW operators to meet and engage with product managers, frontline staff, as well as operation staff of key airlines and agents partners during the main acquisition window of NATAS Travel Fair (Singapore) and prior to MATTA Travel Fair (Malaysia). 2

Objectives The objectives of the Destination NSW South East Asia Trade Mission 2013 are: To increase awareness of New South Wales destinations and products To raise the profile of NSW tourism To grow business opportunities with key in market trade partners To strengthen and establish travel industry relationships with product and marketing managers To engage and train agents retail sales and reservation staff, who play a crucial role in securing bookings To create business opportunities for NSW suppliers We expect to meet around 200 to 250 people from the Singapore and Malaysia tourism industry; targeting travel agents, product managers and operation staff as well as airlines representatives. Eligibility to Participate Strict criteria are in place to ensure maximum exposure for participating products. Each product must demonstrate how they meet these criteria. With a minimum of 8 and maximum of 12 registrations available, preference will be given to product who most strongly demonstrate the eligibility criteria. To keep the event interesting and innovative, we will reserve 25% of total participation space for new products which are export ready. New products that are, those who are export ready and may not have necessarily been in market or attended a Mission before. In order to showcase the depth and diversity of tourism product, and to maintain and stimulate Interest in the destination, Destination NSW reserves the right to determine final product participation for the Destination NSW South East Asia Trade Mission 2013. The decision made by Destination NSW will be final and no correspondence entered into. Eligibility criteria: Suitability of product for the Singapore and Malaysia markets. Availability of product in the Singapore and Malaysia markets, appropriate booking facilities or inclusion in trade programmes. Product collateral relevant to the Singapore and Malaysia markets. (ie. brochure, factsheet, online collateral). Demonstrated marketing activities in the markets including advertising in trade/consumer promotions and/or participation in previous in market initiatives and support of DNSW trade famils. Long-term operational stability and commitment to selling to the Singapore and Malaysia markets. Total emphasis must be on NSW-based products. National operators or products representing destinations other than New South Wales will be requested not to promote or sell those products. Preference will be given to relevant product represented by a New South Wales-based delegate. Participants must have no outstanding debts with Destination NSW. Receipt of requested materials and payment by deadline dates. 3

Participation Package: (Based on 1 delegate) If successful, the following will be offered: 6 nights hotel accommodation including breakfast (single room occupancy) from 18 23 August. Check-out on 24 August Market orientation briefing by DNSW Welcome pack including market intelligence Meals as identified in the program Flight from Singapore to Malaysia on economy class Transfers as outlined below: Transfers to meetings as identified in the program Singapore Hotel - Singapore, Changi Airport Kuala Lumpur International Airport Kuala Lumpur Hotel All other transfers are at participant s own arrangements and own expense Travel industry training and networking events at respective venues: Lunch, and full day supply of coffee and tea during the training and workshops Beverages and snacks at hosted networking events All attending agents will receive a road show manual containing participants product information Delegation will be escorted by Destination NSW staff throughout the entire road show The participation package excludes the following: Incidental charges laundry, other meals, mini bar, and all other personal expenses and any expenses not outlined above Optional Extension: Singapore NATAS Travel Fair: (Based on 1 delegate) Participants who opt for the NATAS Travel Fair extension package will be offered: Opportunity to be at DNSW booth at Singapore NATAS Travel Fair from 16 18 August 2013. (expected turnout 60,000 people) Accommodation (15 17 August 2013) and meals at own expense. Payment is to be made by direct debit by 26 July 2013 Destination NSW reserves the right to select final participants should the mission be oversubscribed. Failure to meet deadlines and payment will result in the cancellation of your application, as space is limited. This mission will consist of a minimum of 8 and maximum of 12 suitable products plus the team from Destination NSW. Should a minimum of 8 participants not be reached, Destination NSW South East Asia Trade Mission 2013 may not proceed and this decision will be made at the discretion of Destination NSW. Confirmation of your participation will be sent to you by email by 10 July 2013 Cancellation and Refund Policy For cancellations received before 15 July 2013 Refund of total fee AUD$2,950 (Destination NSW South East Asia Trade Mission 2013) Refund of total fee AUD$500 (top up for Singapore NATAS Travel Fair) For cancellations received after 15 July 2013 No refund will be provided. All cancellations must be confirmed in writing to: jennifer.yuan@dnsw.com.au Air Travel Domestic Flight: International flight transfer from Singapore to Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur will be arranged and is included in the participation fee. International Flights: International flights to/from Australia or any other destination to the event destination and from the end destination of the itinerary will be the responsibility of the participant. The participant must have a valid passport to enter Singapore and Malaysia. The participant should also be aware of customs formalities when entering Singapore and Malaysia. Accommodation Pre and post accommodation can be arranged at the same accommodation used in the itinerary. Additional nights outside the official itinerary will be at the arrangement and expense of the participant. Transfers Transfers as outlined below: Transfers to meetings as identified in the program Singapore Hotel - Singapore, Changi Airport Kuala Lumpur International Airport Kuala Lumpur Hotel. 5

Miscellaneous Shipment: There will be no distribution of collateral. The Destination NSW South East Asia market will instead create a dedicated Destination NSW South East Asia Trade Mission 2013 product manual containing collective participants product information. You will be contacted in July 2013 to confirm the information you submitted in your registration form. It is recommended that courier your brochure materials to Singapore and Malaysia. Exact postage and contact details will be provided with confirmation of your participation. It is recommended that you ONLY include printed material in your shipment as CDs & other promotional items are likely to get held up at Customs &/or incur large import taxes to clear these items from Customs. Destination NSW is unable to assist in processing goods held in Customs. Wherever possible, it is recommended you bring your CDs or thumb drives/usb sticks with you on the plane. Decoration and Giveaways The venues will be decorated with generic posters and displays. Appointments You are encouraged to decorate your appointment table. You are more than welcome to bring along small giveaways for the participating travel industry contacts to be given out during your meeting with them. Training: During the training session, you are welcome to provide small giveaways for travel agent operation staff. In addition, we will provide a Familiarisation Prize during each training session in both Singapore and Malaysia. The prize details are shown below, Two airline tickets will be given away at the end of the training sessions in Singapore and Malaysia. In two famils, each of 2 passengers will fly to New South Wales and learn about your products in person. Please let us know if you would like to host the famils and offer complimentary accommodation/admission for tours/attractions. Please provide us with a clear definition of what travel component you would like to donate in your registration form. Dinners: Lucky draw prizes will also be given to participating agents during the evening networking functions, please advise jennifer.yuan@dnsw.com.au if you are able to support with premium gifts. Travel Insurance All participants are responsible for personal travel, inoculations if required and health insurance including public & products liability, workers compensation and property insurance coverage for the duration of the mission. It is highly recommended that travel insurance be purchased prior to departure. Please note that should you miss any activities as a result of being bumped en route or if you wish to deviate from the itinerary at any time, it will be your responsibility to catch up with the remainder of the group. There is no reduction in costs for delegates who do not use accommodation, flights or transfers or attend functions as outlined in the itinerary.
