ITINERARY DAY 1: PHNOM PENH Arrive Phnom Penh and transfer to your hotel. Later on take a Sunset Cruise on the Mekong River. DAY 2: PHNOM PENH Morning guided sightseeing of the capital, including visits to the Royal Palace, National Museum, Silver Pagoda and Central Market. This afternoon visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, site of a notorious prison during the Pol Pot era and the infamous Killing Fields outside the city. (B) DAY 3: PHNOM PENH - KOMPONG THOM Leave Phomn Penh behind and journey north to Kompong Cham where you'll view fine examples of colonial architecture. After lunch continue to Kompong Thom, stopping en route to explore Wat Nokor Pagoda with its ancient temple. (B) DAY 4: KOMPONG THOM - SIEM REAP (ANGKOR TEMPLES) This morning you'll visit the Pre-Angkorian temples of Sambor Prei Kuk, which date back to the beginning of the 7th century. From here you'll travel overland through wonderful countryside to Siem Reap. After checking into your hotel, enjoy your first experience of the Angkor complex - Sunset at Angkor Wat. (B) DAY 5: SIEM REAP (ANGKOR TEMPLES) Today's highlights include the fortified city of Angkor Thom, the temple of King Jayavarman VII, reputedly Angkors greatest king, at the centre of which lies the Bayon, one of the most evocative sights at Angkor with its 200 faces smiling down on the observer. Spend the afternoon discovering the sights of Angkor Watt. (B) DAY 6: SIEM REAP (ANGKOR TEMPLES) Full day guided tour of the Angkor Grand Circuit, visiting Ta Prohm, so overgrown that huge trees grow out of the ruins, Preah Khan, Preah Neah Pean and Ta Som. DAY 7: SIEM REAP (ANGKOR TEMPLES) - SIHANOUKVILLE Morning visit to Banteay Samre and the well preserved Banteay Srei, a charming temple whose rose-pink sandstone walls are among the most beautifully decorated in Angkor. In the afternoon fly to Sihanoukville, and transfer to your beach hotel. (B) DAY 8: SIHANOUKVILLE Sihanoukville enjoys cool breezes and island-specked tropical waters and this, along with the undeveloped nature of its beaches makes it an ideal place to relax for a few days.
