INTRODUCTION 1.1 The biennial Australian International Airshow will be held at Avalon Airport, Victoria, during the period Tuesday 19 February to Tuesday 5 March 2019. The use of airspace, aerodrome and facilities vary from those published in AIP MAP and ERSA. Note: The airspace surrounding Avalon will become extremely congested and a high degree of airmanship and situational awareness will be required by pilots. 1.2 Temporary Restricted Areas (TRA) will be declared and specific air traffic services and procedures defined (see Appendix 2 and 7). 1.3 Transit flights through the restricted areas will not normally be permitted. Emergency traffic requiring operations in the restricted areas will be processed according to their priority requirements. 1.4 All operations to AVALON (YMAV) during this period require prior permission from Air Shows Down Under (ASDU) as specified in AIP SUP H02/19 and H03/19. 1.5 A temporary Aircraft Landing Area, AVALON EAST (YAVE), will be available to VFR fixed wing and approved recreational aircraft, and does not require prior permission from Air Shows Down Under.

Page 2 of 9 1.6 Recreational aircraft require approval from CASA to operate within R979A. Refer to the ASDU website (www.airshow.com.au) for information on obtaining CASA approval to operate within a Restricted Area. 1.7 All VFR helicopter operations are subject to specific requirements as specified in AIP SUP H03/19. 1.8 This AIP SUP describes the procedures in use for VFR aircraft wishing to operate to Avalon East (YAVE) during this period. 1.9 In the weeks leading up to the Airshow, further briefing material (photographs, diagrams etc.) will be available on the ASDU website. 1.10 Consistent with other AIP products, unless otherwise stated, all altitudes published in this SUP are AMSL. 1.11 Unless marked otherwise, all times used in this document are Local Times. 2. SIGNIFICANT ISSUES AVALON 2019 2.1 R979A, B and C will be active from 0700 19 February 2019 until 2000 5 March 2019 (see Appendix 2 and 7). 2.2 AVALON EAST TOWER will be operational during the times specified at paragraph 4.2. Operations to YAVE outside hours of tower operation are strictly prohibited unless special arrangements have been made with ASDU. 2.3 The following approach points will be used for YAVE: Little River Mouth (LRM) Clifton Springs (CLS) 2.4 Class D procedures as per AIP ENR 1.1, para 2.11.3 apply. 3. The southern end of this area will be used for short stay aircraft; e.g. charter quick turn around. 5.7 A shuttle bus service will be available to convey visitors to and from the main entrance gate. 5.8 AERODROME INFORMATION: a) Two runways: RWY 17R/35L and RWY 17L/35R. b) Both runways measure 940M X 18M (RWS 45M). c) The runway centrelines are 150M apart. d) Contra circuits do not apply. Circuit entry is via a common base leg to parallel runways. e) All departures MUST be full length. f) All movement areas at YAVE are unsealed and may become unserviceable due to heavy rain. 5.9 The following frequencies are available when YAVE TOWER is active: TOWER 125.4MHz DIRECTOR 129.2MHz (1) ATIS 122.0MHz (2) (1) To be utilised by arrivals from LRM and CLS. (2) Available H24 from 0900 Tuesday 26 February until LL Sunday 3 March. Outside these times monitor YMAV ATIS to ascertain the status of the airspace. 5.10 AVGAS (100LL) will be available from Viva Aviation. Scheduled refueling hours are Tuesday Thursday on request, Friday Sunday 0800 1000 and 1500 1700, refueling will not take place without the owner/pilot in attendance. See ASDU website for payment options and contact details. 6. AVALON EAST VFR ARRIVAL PROCEDURES 6.1 All circuits at YAVE are to the east. 6.2 LRM (Little River Mouth) and CLS (Clifton Springs) are the designated approach points for YAVE. Monitor the YAVE ATIS prior to arriving at the approach points to determine airspace status and runways in use.

Page 5 of 9 6.3 When within 10NM of YAVE, inbound aircraft should maintain streams of either: a) 1,000FT and 90KTS IAS (or your maximum cruise speed if less than 90KTS); or b) 1,500FT and 130KTS IAS if unable to maintain 90KTS. 6.4 Inbound aircraft intending to use LRM should track via overhead Point Cook (YMPC) at or above 1,500FT and then via Werribee South (WBES). This will entail transiting Danger Area D383 and Restricted Area R330A & B (no entry permitted to R330 A & B when active as per ERSA). 6.5 As an alternative, inbound aircraft from the south or south west may track via CLS. Caution: The track from CLS involves overwater transit. Lifejackets may be required. 6.6 Monitor the DIRECTOR 129.2MHz when within 10NM of LRM and once passing YMPC you should remain over land. Opposite direction traffic from YAVE should be over water. Do not commence descent to stream height 1,000FT until 3NM SW of YMPC. Caution: Intense aviation activity takes place within D383 and the Point Cook Circuit Area. R330A & B may be active on TUE, THU & SUN 1315 to 1345. See ERSA and NOTAMS. ENTRY TO R330A or B IS NOT AVAILABLE WHEN ACTIVE. 6.7 Point Cook CTAF frequency (126.2MHz) should be used within 3NM of YMPC. 6.8 During published YAVE TWR hours, a clearance to enter R979A may be delayed due to flying display activities. Outside YAVE TWR hours, entry to R979A is not permitted without clearance from AVALON TOWER on 120.1MHz. Refer AIP SUP H03/19. 6.9 It is imperative that no overtaking takes place in your selected stream. You should follow the aircraft ahead remaining approximately 1/2NM behind to allow spacing in the circuit. 6.10 Make your inbound call to DIRECTOR on 129.2MHz as you approach your inbound point. 6.11 Make sure you identify LRM correctly as it is easy to confuse LRM with WBES.

Page 6 of 9 Above left: WBES looking south west towards LRM. The mouth of the Werribee River is in the centre and LRM is at the top left. Above right: LRM looking south west towards Avalon East. Note: The river mouth is in the middle of the sewage ponds. 6.12 Typical circuit entry instructions will be in the form, Join base/downwind RWY 17/35 L or R, and contact TWR 125.4MHz. 6.13 If circuit entry instructions are not received by the time you reach LRM or CLS you must enter the holding area associated with your approach point (see Appendix 3). Caution: Avoid overf ying Werribee Zoo, situated north of the Werribee golf course. 6.14 Aircraft holding in the LRM holding area must remain east of LRM and south east of the Princes HWY at all times to ensure separation with IFR aircraft. 6.15 On completion of hold, make another inbound call approaching the approach point. 6.16 A fluoro yellow coloured shipping container designates the start of the base leg position for arrival RWY 17L or R. Aircraft must track directly to the shipping container from LRM or Kirk Point to avoid sensitive wetland areas. 6.17 A fluoro orange coloured shipping container designates the turning point for final for RWY 17L. 6.18 Missed Approach Procedure: Climb straight ahead not above 1,500FT and immediately inform ATC of pilot actions. Plan for an easterly circuit and turn when instructed. Remain clear of the Princes Freeway (helicopters operate along the freeway at 600FT). Note: The waypoint Kirk Point is not marked on any current aeronautical charts. See Appendices 3, 5 and 6 for location of Kirk Point.

Page 7 of 9 6.19 DO NOT OVERTAKE DO NOT CUT CORNERS DO NOT FLY THROUGH CENTRELINE UNLESS DIRECTED BY ATC. 7. DEPARTURE PROCEDURES 7.1 All circuits at YAVE are to the east. 7.2 VFR Flight Notification Requirements 7.2.1 Flight notification is not required. 7.2.2 If required flight planning facilities are available at the ASDU Flight Planning Centre, located in a temporary building north of the EXPO. 7.2.3 Flight notification will not be accepted by radio. 7.3 Before Engine Start 7.3.1 Aircraft requiring a clearance into adjacent Class C airspace must obtain their transponder code while still on the ground by contacting MELBOURNE CENTRE on 135.7MHz or by phone on 03 9235 7337 within 45 minutes of ETD. 7.3.2 Do not select the assigned code until clear of R979A and R979B. 7.3.3 Airways clearance to enter adjacent Class C airspace will not be available from AVALON TWR or AVALON EAST TWR but will be issued by MELBOURNE CENTRE when airborne and clear of R979A and R979B. 7.4 After Start 7.4.1 Obtain ATIS and operate as directed. 7.4.2 Monitor TOWER frequency, do not transmit. 7.4.3 Taxi to the holding point. 7.5 At Holding Point 7.5.1 Squawk Code 1000 if equipped. 7.5.2 When NUMBER 1 call TOWER with: (call sign) (aircraft type) READY. 7.5.3 Runway entry and take off procedures apply.
