Overnight onboard. Day 2**Jul 11 Hotel Accommodation: Hotel Rio Othon Palace or Similar Lima Rio de Janeiro We will transit in Lima and fly to Rio de Janeiro. This is a huge seaside city in Brazil, famous for its Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, 38 meter Christ the Redeemer statue atop Mount Corcovado and Sugarloaf Mountain. The city is also known for its sprawling favelas (shanty towns). Its raucous Carnival festival, featuring parade floats, flamboyant costumes and samba dancers, is considered the world s largest. Upon arrival, we will go to the hotel. This evening, enjoy dinner at our hotel. Day 3**Jul 12 Rio de Janeiro (B, L) Today, we will explore Rio. We will make our way through the Cobblestone Streets of Paineiras to the city of Corcovado and The Statue of Christ the Redeemer, the largest Art Deco statue in the world and the 5th largest statue of Jesus in the world. Today s lunch features Traditional Brazil BBQ. We will have a photo stop at Maracana Soccer Stadium, which is currently the largest in the world. After lunch, a two-stage Cable Car will take us to the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain to have a best view of the Municipal Theatre, the neoclassic cathedral Candelaria Church, and Sao Benito Monastery. Then continue to the edge of Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, which meets the laidback atmosphere of the Copacabana Beach. Day 4**Jul 13 Rio de Janeiro Iguassu Falls Fly to Iguassu Falls in the morning, one of the greatest natural wonders of the world. Iguassu Falls are waterfalls of the Iguassu River on the border of the Argentine province of Misiones and the Brazilian state of Paraná. They are the largest waterfalls system in the world. Upon arrival, we will also visit Itaipu Dam, the biggest hydroelectric power station. Enjoy the Rafain Show with dinner in the evening. Stay overnight at Iguassu Falls. Hotel Accommodation: Recanto Cataratas Thermas Resort & Convention or Similar Day 5**Jul 14 Iguassu Falls After breakfast, we will enjoy a whole day escorted walking tour to the Brazilian side of Iguassu Falls. The path footbridges and belvederes (open sided roofed terraces) are all strategically placed to give the tourist the best views to see each and every waterfall. Iguassu Falls has 275 cascades along a mile and a half long edge where torrents of water plunge down to the basin from 230 feet high. A Panoramic Elevator goes down to the bottom of the falls. Day 6**Jul 15 Iguassu Falls Buenos Aires In the morning, a guide will accompany the group and drive across the border from Brazilian side towards the Argentinean side of this amazing falls. Then take a tour of the Argentina Iguassu Falls. Afternoon, we will fly to Buenos Aires, which means fair wind in Spanish. Buenos Aires is one of the most fascinating cities in both Latin America and the world, whether it is for its splendid and varied architecture, with its old Colonial buildings, French palaces and state-of-the-art skyscrapers; for its vibrant nightlife and endless cultural options; or maybe just for (D)

the rich identity of the Porteños, who proudly bear the European heritage of their ancestors. Tonight, enjoy a famous Tango Show and a scrumptious dinner at an Argentina style restaurant. Hotel Accommodation: InterContinental Hotel Buenos Aires or Similar Day 7**Jul 16 Buenos Aires After breakfast, we will have a full day City Tour. Along 9 de Julio Avenue, the widest street in the city, it is possible to spot the Obelisk, the monument that symbolizes the city, and the famous Colon Theatre (Opera House), a masterpiece of architecture with superb acoustics. Then on to San Telmo neighborhood, birthplace of the city, and to May Square, historical and political center, surrounded by the Government House or 'Casa Rosada', site of the national government; the Cabildo, historical building which was the center of the colonial political life; the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Town Hall, site of the city government. We proceed to La Boca district, a picturesque neighborhood where the Italian immigrants settled and the location of Caminito Street, famous because it inspired the tango Carminito by Juan de Dios Filiberto. Heading north, we enter the aristocratic Recoleta district, known for its Cemetery and visit Palermo, a wide and beautiful park located in the heart of one of the most elegant areas in the city. After lunch, we will go through the elegant northern riverside suburbs of Vicente Lopez, Olivos (where the President's Residence is located), San Isidro with its gothic Cathedral and San Fernando, to Tigre. We will board a typical motor Boat for a 1 hour cruise along the Parana River Delta. The Delta is 220 square kilometers in size with small islands and numerous streams spread throughout the area. The nearby Lujan, Sarmiento, Tigre and San Antonio rivers are all part of the excursion. An Argentinean Barbecue Dinner is arranged tonight. Day 8**Jul 17 Buenos Aires Lima Though its colonial center is preserved, Lima is a bustling metropolis and one of South America s largest cities. It's home to the Museo Larco collection of pre-columbian art and the Museo de la Nación, tracing the history of Peru s ancient civilizations. Upon arrival at Jorge Chávez International Airport, proceed to immigration and customs. An Air & Sea Travel representative will greet and escort us to Colonial Lima, the start of our tour. Sightseeing focuses on Lima s colonial heritage. Founded in 1535, Lima was once the capital of Spain s South American Empire. Visit the baroque 17th-century San Francisco Monastery, with Spanish and Moorish architecture throughout. Continue to Plaza Mayor, where we will see the Government Palace that houses the presidential palace that was once the home of Francisco Pizarro, founder of Lima and conqueror of Peru. Nearby, as we walk through the Cathedral of Lima s numerous chapels, we ll travel to the past and discover various architectural styles (from Renaissance to Neo-Classical) and learn about Peru s religious history. Then, we will continue to the most traditional of the residential zones of the capital, San Isidro and Miraflores. We will pass through the heart of the city s financial district and enjoy the perfect spot to view the Pacific Ocean. Hotel Accommodation: Sheraton Lima Hotel & Convention Center or Similar Day 9**Jul 18 Lima (B, L) After breakfast, we will transfer to the Pueblo Libre District, where the National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History is located. This is the largest and oldest museum in Peru with an extensive archeological collection of more than 100,000 items from pre-inca cultures that were made more than 3000 years ago. After lunch, we will visit Larco Museum, a privately owned museum of pre-columbian art, housed in an 18th-century vice-royal building built over a 7th-century pre-columbian pyramid. Day 10**Jul 19 Lima Juliaca Puno This morning, we will transfer to the airport for a flight to Juliaca, a city in the San Román province of southern Peru. As a busy transit hub, it is a jumping-off point for Lake Titicaca, the vast Andean lake marked by Inca ruins and floating villages. Upon arrival, transfer to Puno, the capital city of the Puno Region and Province which is located on the shore of Lake Titicaca. We will take a panoramic tour of the historic center in the city and visit the Main Square before checking into the hotel. Hotel Accommodation: Hotel Libertador Lago Titicaca or Similar Day 11**Jul 20 Day trip to Lake Titicaca After breakfast in the hotel, we start the day on Lake Titicaca, the highest water volume lake in South America, and the highest commercially navigable lake in the world. We take an early ride in a Motorboat, stopping at the Uros Floating Islands, a group of approximately 40 artificial islands inhabited by fishermen and hunters. We will learn how the Uros Indians construct their islands, homes, boats, and many other resources completely out of tortora reed, a centuries-old practice. We will stop at Taquile Island, where there are numerous pre-inca and Inca ruins and

terraces. The island is only about 0.62 mile wide and 3.7 to 4.3 miles long. The Taquile population was relatively isolated from the mainland until the 1950s. The notion of community is still deep-seated among them and is reflected in the strong organization of community life and collective decision-making. Taquile Island is famous for its craft production; particularly weaving that dates back to the ancient Inca, Pukara and Colla civilizations. This is evident by the Spanish peasant dresses made of Andean textiles the islanders make some of the finest in all of Peru. (There is a local museum of traditional costumes.) The visit could be exhausting due to the steep path that goes up to the village and the altitude (13,000 ft.). Return to Puno and hotel at night. Day 12**Jul 21 Puno Cuzco Sacred Valley After breakfast, we will board a flight to Cuzco, a city in the Peruvian Andes which was once the capital of the Inca Empire, and is now known for its archaeological remains and Spanish colonial architecture. Upon arrival, take a tour of Sacred Valley, formed by the Vilcanota or Urubamba River and encompassing the heartland of the past Inca Empire. It will begin in Pisac, a beautiful place where Incan and Colonial influences have reached a perfect balance and created the unique way of life of the local inhabitants. We will get a chance to explore this quaint town and Pisac Market, famous for its artisans where we can find extraordinarily fine jewelry and ceramic and textile craftwork. Hotel Accommodation: Aranwa Sacred Valley Hotel & Wellness or Similar Day trip to Machu Picchu Day 13**Jul 22 Today s highlight is the Santuario Histórico de Machu Picchu (Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu). Rediscovered by Hiram Bingham more than a century ago, Machu Picchu is known as the "Lost City of the Incas", and is the most familiar icon of the Inca World. It was declared a Peruvian Historical Sanctuary in 1981 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. In 2007, Machu Picchu was voted one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in a worldwide Internet poll. We will board a comfortable Train at Aguas Calientes Train Station and enjoy a spectacular view along the way. Upon arrival, a bus will take us to the entrance gate of the Machu Picchu citadel. Its architectural beauty, spectacular natural landscapes and the energy held in its enigmatic structures will take our breath away. Follow in the footsteps of the ancient Incans as we explore this magical citadel with our guide. Day 14**Jul 23 Hotel Accommodation: Hotel Novotel Cuzco or Similar Sacred Valley Cuzco After breakfast, we will embark on a tour of Cuzco, the city that was once the political, military, and cultural epicenter of the Incas until the Spanish toppled it. In fact, Inca foundations can still be found in Cuzco, with Spanish baroque structures built on them. First, we will visit Ccochahuasi Animal Sanctuary dedicated to rescuing, caring, and preserving native species, some of which are in danger of becoming extinct. Within this admirable private initiative, which seeks to raise awareness about respecting the environment, you will be able to see condors and other species native to the Andes. After that, sightseeing includes visits to the ancient fortress of Sacsayhuaman, the amphitheater of Kenko, and the Cathedral. Some of the best examples of Inca masonry can be found at this fortress, where stones weighing up to 350 tons are pieced together to form a complex that could house up to 10,000 men. Learn about the ceremonies and battles that took place here. We will continue our visit with a stroll through the Main Square, where we can see the Cathedral and admire its exquisite vestibules and priceless paintings from the Cuzco School of the 17th and 18th centuries. Day 15**Jul 24 Cuzco Lima (B) We can roam around the city, and get some shopping done. Check out hotel at 12. In the evening, we will take a flight back to Los Angeles via Lima. Day 16**Jul 25 Lima Los Angeles Our flight to Los Angeles leaves after midnight. Proceed to immigration and customs formalities in United States. Some of us will ride the shuttle bus to our overnight hotel while others will continue to their next adventure.
