Already in the beginning of the 20 th century christian services took place in the cottage. Sunday school classes started up in 1917. These activities continued until 1945, as long as the former owner Filip Pettersson stayed at Mosshemmet. In 1968 the Covenant Church of Eksjö purchased the property. Activities for children and youth have been arranged at Mosshemmet since that time. During the years, the cottage has developed to a camp site and outdoor center. The camp site is suitable for camps up to 500 participants.
The cottage Containing 2 rooms and a kitchen. The kitchen is not fully equipped. The cottage has electric heating and there is a fireplace in the main room. The ground floor may be used for overnight sleeping, maximun 20 persons. The barn Assembling approximately 150 persons. The cowshed Service rooms, including simple kitchen, coldstorage room and freezers. Log-built shelters There are 5 shelters, with a fireplace in front of each of them. Toilet buildings Containing 2 washrooms, 10 showers, 8 environmentally friendly toilets and one urinal. How to find Mosshemmet From Eksjö, drive road 32, direction Vetlanda. Turn right at the sign Prostorp and then to the right again at the next sign to Prostorp. Approximately 2 km later, turn right at the sign MOSSHEMMET. 800 meters later you will arrive to the camp site. The cabins The cabins have electric heating and a fridge. There is one cabin with 3 beds and one with 4 beds.
RENTAL RULES The buildings and the area is only to be used for stated purposes. Consumption of alcoholic beverages as well as indoor smoking is strictly prohibited. Cancellation of a booking has to be done at least one week in advance. If not, the full price of the booking will be charged. For camp activities, suitable areas for the activities have to be planned in cooperation with the landlord. Cancellation of camp activities have to be done at least six months in advance. If not, a cancellation fee of 10% of the estimated revenue will be charged. Take good care of the camp site and equipement! Report any damage immediately! The buildings and the area have to be restored back into original condition. The tenant will be charged for any damages caused by the tenant and for cleaning up, if not performed by the tenant. Camp fires on the ground are only allowed at certain marked spots. The rental fee is to be payed after concluding the period of renting, to Swedish Bank giro 144-5857, stating Mosshemmet, period of renting and name of payer. The keys are to be returned to the landlord immediately after concluding the activities on the camp site. Instructions for short time rental Firewood Swimming Toilets Firewood for barbecue may be collected from the firewood storage, subject to availability. The nearest bathing spot is at Mossgölen, 700 meters from the arrival portal. The water contains a lot of humus. For environmental purposes, the toilets are urine separated. For that reason also boys/men need to sit down while urinating. Plastic materials must not be thrown in the toilets. At least one extra toilet roll should be in place in each of the toilets, on the holder. Alcogel for hand cleaning should be placed by each washingbowl. Night time lighting is turned on by a switch above the toilet for disabled. Electricity For any electrical breakdowns which can t be easliy solved call the advised person in charge! Camp fires Camp fires on the ground are only allowed at certain marked spots at the camp site and in front of the shelters. Arrangements for fire extinction have to be made before lighting a fire. Compost Compost is put into green plastic bags before throwing them in a dust-bin by the wall of the cowshed. If compost is dug down into the ground, the pit has to be deep enough to stop foxes and wild boars from digging it up. Refridgerators Refridgerators and freezers are turned off, with doors open. Turn on the switches by arrival if you need to use them. Restore everything before leaving. Keys The keys will be collected before admission and returned directly after completion of the rental. The keys to the cabins have a separate keyring. 150 persons may be seated in the barn. There is no heating. Assembling hall Garbage Waste separation means that compost is put into green plastic bags, burnable waste into red plastic bags and non recyclable waste in a plastic bag of other colour. There is running hot and cold water in the cottage, in the cowshed kitchen and the showers. There is running cold water in the toilets. There are 5 shelters in the area. Two of them are at the same spot. In front of each shelter there is a fire place. Care for sufficient water supplies if making a fire, even for extinction of accidental fires. Extra rolls are stored in the waterpump building.
