CLE PROGRAMS Friday April 12, 2013 1:00pm 2:30pm Alcohol Regulations and Airlines: A Regulatory Quandary Presented by the Beverage Alcohol Committee, CLE Speakers: Matthew Botting, Tracy Genesen, Roger Morris, R. J. O Hara, Naveen Rao, Charles Smarr This panel will explore the regulatory tensions that exist between state and federal regulation of alcohol service on board aircraft in the air, on the ground and in airport lounges. Are state laws preempted in this area or does the 21st Amendment trump federal law? We have a panel of experts from state, federal government and the private sector to illuminate this complex area of the law. 2:45pm 4:00pm The Future of NAFTA Presented by the International Trade & Customs Committee, CLE Speakers: Les Glick, Mauricio Ibarra Ponce De León, Jay Stein, Esq. NAFTA was one of the first, most important and yet most controversial free trade agreements into which the United States has entered. Its advocates point to the growth in the economies of all three NAFTA countries while critics blame NAFTA for U.S. job losses. One purpose of NAFTA was to strengthen the competitiveness of North America vis-a-vis Europe and Asia. However Mexico now has free trade agreements with Japan and the EU, while Canada and the US are both exploring agreements with the EU. What will be NAFTA's role in the future and what issues face Mexico, the U.S and Canada as a result? Join this expert panel for an examination of future prospects for trade and competitiveness in our countries.
