TRIP TO LONDON
FIRST DAY Thursday 28th of April After getting up early for this long awaited day, students and teachers travelled to Nice airport, at the appointment location. After a good fruit juice and some security checks, we finally flew to this exciting city! The flight was very nice because we had the chance to travel with British Airways. As soon as we arrived, a bus - waiting for us - drove us to the Museum of London. This museum tells us in detail the history of London, its conquests, its defeats, its characteristics, mode, and customs over time... A temporary part of the museum even told us the best known historical disaster of London : "The Great Fire". After visiting the museum - which required most of the day - we all went in our host families. We were all very excited to meet them. My friends and I were not disappointed with ours. The first night with our host family was very very nice because we (2 Lucas, Vincent and I) ihtroduced ourselves... arround 2 tasty pizzas. Last, but not least, the bedroom was quite large and the beds was comfortable enough. Great news!
SECOND DAY Friday 29th of April On this very busy day, we went to visit the most famous jail in London : "The Tower of London". The tour lasted all morning. It's a mythical and very impressive place because part of the visit was dedicated to the exhibition of all objects used at the coronation of the royal family. There are the crowns, scepters of all London Kings and Queens and much more... Then, we discovered the London bridge, the most famous bridge within Europe. We all climbed at the top and were amazed to discover that the floor was actually a series of windows. We could even see everything that was below! It was like walking in a vacuum or fly in the sky! It was amazing! After, we went to Piccadilly Circus in order to shop and visit. Mrs. Stapnes guided us toward China Town. Then we went to the very large and impressive M&M's store of London. Once everyone was in the bus, ready to leave, we loudly sang Happy Birthday to Mrs. Banzet. Some students had offered her a gift from Victoria's Secrets. Once with our host family, we had a dinner and slept very deeply... so tired after such long day, full of emotions!
THIRD DAY Saturday 30th of April Sunday, we started the day by shopping in a shopping center next to Wembley Stadium, a soccer stadium. Despite a huge variety of shops, I did not find something to buy, except some food from the "hard to miss" Starbucks' Coffee. Then we continued with the visit of the stadium. The tour was very informative and rewarding. We all took a lot of pictures because we felt lucky to see the different T-Shirts of the famous soccer players and to visit the conference room. We even had the privilege to come in the football field through the same entrances used by the players. The stadium is really big and impressive. It is also very unique thanks to its architecture and his amazing number of rest rooms! Then we came back to London city center to visit the Science Museum. This museum is very futuristic and explains us the fonctionalities of mechanical, aeronautics, spaces and electronics objects over time. Before leaving, we stopped at Buckingham palace to take advantage of the beauty of such park! Then we all joined our host families.
FOURTH DAY Sunday 1st of May First, we played in the children's park near the meeting place. The bus drove us to the Westminster. We took a lot of photos close to Big Ben! Then we went to the London center, next to the biggest big wheel of the town - the London Eye - in order to visit the London Dungeon. The aim of this attraction is to tell us the most horrible and most gory legends of London. All these stories are indeed very funny thanks to the presence of many ghost trains occupied by well-dressed actors! It was very funny! For sure, we learnt a lot about Jack the Ripper, Guy Faukes, Sweeney Todd... Then we extensively walked in London in order to go to Five Guys, the favorite fast-food of Mrs. Banzet. With the money raised from the 'kermesse', we managed to buy at least one burger for all of us! Yummy. Then we returned to Picadylli Circus to do some last-minute shopping. Last, but not least, we spent our last evening with our host family... sniff!
FIFTH DAY Monday 2nd of May After a warmly goodbye to our families, we allocated enough time to do a lot of shopping. The teachers gave us free time next to a Primark. So I spent my last money in this store! Then the bus drove us to Heathrow airport, the same airport where we arrived. After some necessary security checks, I did my very best to loose my ticket to stay longer in London... but I failed to miss the flight to Nice. The return flight was still pleasant but less exciting than the go flight because it represents the end of the journey. But we all managed to demonstarte our gratitude to the teachers during the landing! It was a beautiful trip and I'll never forget it. Thank you very much!
