Amanzi Camp - Fact Sheet Introduction In 2015, Anabezi s sister Camp Amanzi will be open for those travellers who prefer a more rustic feel. Amanzi camp is situated directly on the banks of the Ngwenya channel. The name "Amanzi" means water in the Tonga language and draws inspirations from the site s intimate position on the Zambezi. The camp consists of 4 tents, each with two double beds on a raised teak deck. The tents have an indoor shower and bathroom, as well as a private sitting area and balcony overlooking the Zambezi. The camp is intimate yet private with the tents generously spaced and connected with a raised walkway to the main area. Two of the tents are configured to function as a family tent which makes it perfect for small groups and families wanting to share an experience with this beautiful part of the world. The main area offers stunning views over the Ngwenya channel and a mosaic of islands that are home to a group of elephant bulls. The main area has an infinity pool a sun deck and a dining area. Accommodation Accommodation consists of 4 traditional safari tents, approximately 500 sq ft in size, positioned on a raised wooden deck. The tents are generously spaced allowing the game to wonder around the camp freely. There is an exciting family unit which is essentially two of the tents back to back allowing for a two bedroom, two bathroom family tent perfect for groups with young children. Each of the luxury tents boast: indoor bathroom; a spacious sitting area; two teak double beds or placed within one well designed mosquito net; a private deck; a wood deck with a stunning view of the Ngwenya Channel; 24 hour battery power.
Activities The camp is well equipped with the best game viewing vehicles and boats allowing us to ensure much comfort for our guests and cater for their individual needs. Guests will be guided by very knowledgeable and experienced guides. Up to two activities per day are included in the rate and comprise the following: Game Drives with a maximum of 4 guests per vehicle; Night drive; Walking Safaris into the Kulefu woodlands and surrounding areas; Canoeing Safaris along the banks of the Zambezi River; Boating and fishing on the Zambezi River; Bird Watching - approximately 500 species of birds in the Lower Zambezi National Park. Day trips down the Mapata Gorge. Getting There GPS: 15 36'31.37"S 29 47'11.20"E Amanzi is located approximately two kilometers down river of Anabezi. There are many different ways to get to the Amanzi and Anabezi Camp. International arrivals into Zambia can be made directly to Lusaka and Livingstone Airports. Both Lusaka and Livingstone have daily flights from Johannesburg International (South Africa). Lusaka Kenneth Kaunda International Airport is also serviced by a number of International Carriers including Emirates, KLM, Kenya Airways and Ethiopian Airlines to mention a few. To/From Lusaka: During the season, Proflight offers daily scheduled 30 minute flights into the Lower Zambezi. The aircraft lands at Jeki airstrip, guests then continue their journey by vehicle through the game park for approximately one and a half hours, or a 40 minute drive directly to camp. Alternatively charters are available into the nearby Kulefu airstrip situated approximately 15 minutes from the camp. To/From Livingstone: A direct charter will take about 2 hours to the nearby Kulefu airstrip, however daily connections are available on Proflight via Lusaka to Jeki airstrip. Booking Policy It is the responsibility of the agent to secure all payments necessary to facilitate the booking. Reservations - A 30% deposit is required for a booking to be confirmed. A provisional booking will only be held for 30 days. Amanzi Camp reserves the right to cancel the booking should we not receive the deposit within 30 days. Cancellations - Cancellations between 60 and 90 days prior to arrival will incur a charge of 30% of the booking value. Cancellations 60 days prior to arrival incur a charge of 100% of the invoice value. Deposits received will be offset against payments due. Payments we do not take payments for accommodation at the camp and therefore all payments for accommodation must be made prior to arrival. Travel & Medical Insurance Fully comprehensive travel insurance is recommended, covering for: personal effects, personal accident, medical and emergency travel expenses, as well as cancellation and curtailment - as bookings will be subject to cancellation penalties as detailed above. Visa & Passports Visa requirements should be checked prior to departure. Some nationalities require a visa, these are obtainable upon entry to Zambia. Children Amanzi Camp does not allow children under the age of 8 years unless they are part of a private group booking (min 8). Weather December, January, February and March - rainy season and Amanzi is closed. April and May - most of the rain has faded away, leaving a landscape that is green and lush, with clear skies and pleasantly mild temperatures. June, July and August - the nights are generally much cooler, but the days are clear and warm. Make sure you bring warm clothes to wrap up in the early mornings and evenings, as some nights get very cold. September and October - the temperatures climb and it can get very hot in October. However, the game viewing is spectacular as the animals concentrate around the limited water sources and along the river. vember is variable, it can be hot and dry like October, or, you may be lucky enough to experience the first spectacular storms of the season.
