Welcome to the Town of Ramapo Summer Camp Guide for 2019... We work hard to develop programs that cover all ages and programmatically touches the interests of each individual child. We offer full day and half day options as well as week-long specialty camps. Our goal is that your child will discover fun, learn new skills, develop new friendships and create wonderful memories. Each camp will follow weekly themes made up of daily activities, special events and field trips for the full day camps. Join us for the Best Summer Ever! REGISTRATION INFORMATION Begins Monday, February 11, 2019 and is on-going until a camp is filled or our deadline for enrollment is reached. Camp registration form must be completed in full, including immunization dates hand-written onto the form where indicated. A permission slip for full day camps will be made available for download from our website www.ramapoparks.org that will be required at the time of camp registration. REGISTRATION DEADLINE is Friday, June 7, 2019 for new enrollments and Camp Payment Plans. After this date camp fees will increase as stated below and payments of cash or credit card will be accepted. No personal checks. No exceptions. Note Payment Plan late fee if not completed by deadline. LATE REGISTRATION: After Friday, June 7, 2019 camp fees will increase as follows: FULL DAY CAMPS $50.00/per camper MINI CAMPS $25.00/per camper PAYMENT may be made by cash, check or major credit card until our registration deadline of Friday, June 7, 2019. Thereafter we will accept cash or credit card only. No exceptions. A PAYMENT PLAN is available for Full-Day Camps. This option requires completion of our Payment Plan Commitment Form and payment of half the total enrollment fees PLUS a $25.00 administrative charge. The balance is due in full by Friday, June 7, 2019 or a late fee of $25.00/per family will be assessed. ALL CAMP FEES MUST BE PAID IN FULL FOR YOUR CHILD TO ATTEND CAMP. NO EXCEPTIONS. TRANSPORTATION is not provided by the Town to and from camp; parents will drop-off and pick-up campers. LUNCH must be provided by parents for all Mini and Full Day camps unless your Full Day camper is attending a trip where lunch is included. No on-site food or refrigeration are available at camps. IMMUNIZATION RECORD is required and must be submitted at the time of registration; all dates must be handwritten by the parent/guardian directly onto our camp form. BEHAVIOR POLICY dictates that campers not working to ensure the safety and fun of the group may be removed from the group temporarily, or permanently if necessary, to maintain group cohesiveness. Any incidents that involve violence will not be tolerated; camper will be sent home immediately and suspended for the following day. If incidents persist, the child may be removed from camp permanently. THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS FOR CHILDREN DISMISSED FROM CAMP. REFUNDS: There is a $50.00 surcharge on camp cancellations. Refunds must be requested in writing. Medical reasons require a Doctor s note. No refunds after June 14, 2019; a credit minus the surcharge will be granted. NO REFUNDS/CREDITS after camp has begun. SPECIALTY CAMP registration is ongoing until the program fills or begins as the programs run on a weekly basis throughout the summer. NON-RESIDENT CAMP FEES: (if space allows) Camp Scuffy: add $200 All other Full Day Camps: add $100 (Excludes CIT) Mini Camps: add $50 *Non-Resident registration will begin on Monday, May 6th for available camps.
Camp Scuffy KINDERCAMP For children entering kindergarten this mix of sports, games, music and an educational component makes this camp fun-filled for their first full day experience. Children will swim weekly and get swimming lessons once a week as well as attend 2 off-site trips to Bounce U and Lafayette Theater. Fee: $1500 SCUFFY ADVENTURE Grades 1-5 This camp is geared toward the camper that wants to try a little bit of everything. They will have a schedule to include some sports, dance, arts and crafts, boating, mini-zip line and Lego activities. They will swim daily and will take 4 off-site trips. Fee: $1525 SCUFFY SPORTS Grades 1-5 This camp has been designed for the sports enthusiast! Children will be introduced and learn skills in Basketball, Lacrosse, Soccer, Volleyball and Baseball/Softball. They will also enjoy gaga ball, swimming and boating. They will take 4 off-site trips to include Splashdown. Fee: $1525 SCUFFY EXTRA WEEK August 12th-16th This extra week will operate similarly to the full camp, however it will be open to new enrollees as well to experience and enjoy all that is SCUFFY! It will be a mix of sports, games, swimming, dance, arts and crafts and boating. Eligibility: Entering K-8th Hours: 8:30AM-3:30PM Fee: $225 Extended Day Option: 3:30PM-5:30PM Fee: $50 SCUFFY TEENS Grades 6-8 For the camper that is not excited about being a camper we have a great program designed for you that will change daily with your group input. They will have special teen-only onsite activities, swim daily and take 6 off-site trips. Fee: $1600 EXTENDED CARE 3:30-5:30 children will have a snack and choose from modified activity schedule. Fee: $250 SWIM LESSONS We offer swim lessons for grades 1-5 every Thursday. Fee: $100 * Kindergarten children will all receive swim lessons as part of their schedule *Lunch delivery optional through Simply Gourmet. OPEN HOUSE If you have never been to Camp Scuffy now is the time! Full Day Camps TEEN TREK JUNIORS For those campers looking for a little excitement in their summer this camp will be a great change! Campers will take trips each week to different locations and go to the Spook Rock Pool on non-trip days. Juniors will experience 9 trips to include: Six Flags, Lake Compounce, White Water Rafting and more! Fee: $900 Eligibility: Entering grades 6 & 7 Location: Suffern Middle School TEEN TREK SENIORS For our oldest campers before they work to become counselors this trip camp is the way to go! Each week you will head out to new and exciting destinations. On non-trip days you will spend the day at Spook Rock Pool after enjoying some on-site morning activities. Seniors will experience 9 trips to include: Broadway Show, Six Flags NJ, Six Flags NE, White Water Rafting and more! Fee: $900 Eligibility: Entering Grades 8-10 Location: Suffern Middle School CREATE & EXPLORE For those campers that like a little bit of everything in a full day camp option. Campers will experience arts and crafts, sports and games, dance on on-site days. Three days a week campers will head out to Saddle River Pool for the afternoon. They will take 5 trips to various destinations based on grades; Grades 1-5 will go to Splashdown, The Castle, and Skyzone while Grades 6-8 will go to Splashdown, Dave & Busters and a Broadway Show. Fee: $825 Eligibility: Entering Grades 1-8 Location: TBA Hours: 8:30AM-3:30PM Extended Care-3:30-5:30 each day Fee: $175 SPORTS CONDITIONING Sports Conditioning camp is a blend of your favorite physical education games and fitness activities with the goal of improving overall conditioning and having a great time along the way. Suffern High School teachers and coaches Rob Addon, Scott Wright and Joe Lofberg design and implement daily plans which include a balance of fitness blocks and game play. If you enjoy fun, exercise, and competition then this is the camp for you! Campers will work hard, enjoy 3 afternoon pool days a week and also go on 4 trips to include: Skyzone and Splashdown Water Park. Fee: $825 Eligibility: Entering Grades 5-9 Location: JTS Community Center CIT 1 CAMP This camp is open to a limited number of Ramapo Residents that are looking to learn how to work with children, gain on the job training, team building as well as still enjoy summer like a camper with pool time, trips and games. From here children will graduate to CIT 2 whereupon successful completion they will be eligible to interview first for summer openings. Fee: $750 Eligibility: Ramapo Residents Entering Grade 9 Location: JTS Community Center CIT 2 CAMP Those children that complete the CIT 1 Camp will have the first option to reserve a space in CIT 2 the following season. After the deadline of February 9th this camp will open to Ramapo residents entering 10th grade. Fee: $725 Eligibility: Ramapo Residents Entering Grade 10 Location: JTS Community Center
MINI & TENNIS CAMPS MINI-CAMPS Our mini-camps are run by dedicated leaders in our community along with enthusiastic staff. They work together to deliver high quality, fun and safe programs for our community children. All camps include a variety of activities to include Arts & Crafts, Games, Music & Drama along with special weekly themes and special events. Eligibility- Ramapo Residents ages 4 (by Dec. 31, 2019. Must be toilet trained.) through 5th grade. Locations: Connor and Montebello Elementary Schools* Hours: 9AM-1PM Fee: $375 *Schools subject to change TENNIS ACADEMY AT CAMP SCUFFY Our specialized tennis program is designed to develop skills for all player levels from beginner to advanced. There will be highintensity drills and competitive ladders to address the needs of high school and tournament level players. Schedule will include small group lessons, active drills, conditioning, swimming and match play. Participants will improve their game and most of all enjoy the experience! SPECIALTY CAMPS at the RAM SPACE EXPLORERS CAMP Campers will explore the wonders of space science with lots of engaging hands-on projects and activities. Camp will include learning in many areas, to include: The fundamental aerodynamic forces associated with aircraft and rocket flight. What it is like to train like an astronaut. Many of the cosmic mysteries of the universe Weird and wacky science behind phenomena people encounter in the home every day. Investigate the science involving invisible energies. Hardcore LEGO enthusiasts as well as new LEGO buffs will design, build, and even write LEGO programs using a variety of engaging LEGO based products. Senior campers will train just like real pilots using our new and realistic flight simulators. Junior campers will work like NASA space scientists designing and building their own pop rockets, and then experience the thrill of launching their creations into the wild blue yonder. JUNIOR SPACE EXPLORERS Entering grades 2 4 SENIOR SPACE EXPLORERS Entering grades 5 7 SESSION 1: July 15-19 SESSION 2: July 22-26 SESSION 3: July 29-August 2 Fees: $285/Session After Care: 3PM- 5:30Pm $60 PLAY-WELL TEKNOLOGIES LEGO CAMP Dates: August 12-16 MINECRAFT ENGINEERING W/ LEGO MATERIALS Bring Minecraft to life using tens of thousands of LEGO parts! Build engineer-designed projects such as a motorized Creeper, a portal to the Nether, and a moving Minecart! Create your favorite Minecraft objects with the guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor. Whether you are new to Minecraft and LEGO materials or a seasoned veteran, you ll be hooked on the endless creative possibilities. Ages 5-7, 9:00am -12:00pm Fee: $190 MINECRAFT MASTER ENGINEERING W/ LEGO MATERIALS Bring Minecraft to life using LEGO parts! Build a motorized walking Creeper, a terrifying Ghast, and a motorized Minecart! This project-based camp, designed by Play-Well instructors, combines the basic format of our core engineering-themed programs based on the world of Minecraft. Students will explore real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture while building their favorite Minecraft objects. Students will have a blast, even without any prior experience with Minecraft or LEGO materials. Ages 8-12, 1:00pm -4:00pm Fee: $190
APO CHALLENGER CENTER Session 1: July 8th 12th Action Movie Flix -AM The favorite from 2018 is back! Students use a green screen, camera tricks, & special effects to create their own live-action action adventure movie. They ll collaborate to write, act, & direct in this action packed movie where kids will be taught action choreography to thrill the audience. Minecraft Movie Flix-PM Turn the video game into an exciting Minecraft stop-motion movie! Working in age-appropriate groups, bring Steve, the creepers, and more to life, as you write, storyboard, shoot and add voice-overs to your favorite characters. *Flix downloadable within a month after camp ends. Session 2: August 5th 9th Go Pro Flix - AM Traditional filmmaking has never been like this. No tripods in this class, it s all about new and exciting ways to film and capture movement as the camera becomes part of the movie making process. Students work in groups to experiment with this amazing filmmaking tool and learn the techniques and tricks behind creating truly unique GoPro movies! Action Stop Motion Flix-PM Using stop motion tricks to create fires, explosions, and floods, student s characters can battle it out or work together to save the day in this action packed stop motion class featuring Roblox characters. Students will work in small groups to storyboard, create the action, film, and voice-over these exciting movies.
